My computer's stuck on 640x480 resolution and low colour, and I can't figure out how to make it go back. I've been to Display and tried to change it and all that, and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Try shutting down the computer and unplugging your monitor. Sounds stupid, I know, but it worked for me once.

Delete the monitor from your hardware profile thingy and refresh so it'll detect and reinstall the drivers for it. Failing that, take a hammer to it.

It can also be a dangerous thing. My colleague did that at work once and crashed the whole network.

To add to the hilarity of it all, the network hadn't crashed for two years!
