I use a Boss ME-50 to record quickly to a PC. Normally i use a Randall RM100, this is a amp which is one of the most versitile amps in the world right now. You can place modules in it which are based on amps that are more expensive than the RM100. I use a Recto module which is based on the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier. My brother (Nrrrk) has a XTC which is based on the Bogner Extacy, which sounds almost excacly alike as the City of Evil guitar sound.
I recommend any guitar player to check out the Randall MTS series. This is the link to their website: http://www.randallamplifiers.com/products/amplifiers/mts/mtsheads.asp
