Guitar Players: Finger-Mounted Guitar Effects!

NAMM is where every weirdo with a half-baked idea comes to show it off and risk ridicule. An early entrant for this year's least-likely-to-succeed was the Hot Hand, wah/filter guitar effect box ...

Ever since Jimi Hendrix, the wah pedal has been a standard bit of guitar gear. Now a new company called Source Audio has replaced the simple, cheap, effective foot pedal with a finger-mounted accelerometer. The sound changes while you are wiggling your finger.

Sounds in addition to the factory presets can be programmed and configured and a control allows the $299 Hot Hand to be calibrated to specific users. A Motion knob can be used to invert the axis of the controller up and down.

In the near future, Source Audio promises to be offering updated versions of Hot Hand with different effects and control possibilities.

You set the 'effect' on the Hot Hand 'table' and then when you wiggle your finger with the motion sensor on it , it makes the desired effect sound...

Though then again, it'd be a bit annoying with it going off all the time. Because it so would.

Doesn't picking alone make it wiggle? ...so there would be an effect everytime you pick. Where's the control in that?

Yea...but for just trying it out I would have a great time!..Just trying to get it right..

Although maybe there is some sort of 'lock' to stop the sound/effect changing though...

Maybe you put it on your fretting hand...

OR it may only work when you wiggle you finger a lot ?

I'm not too big on effects, anyway. As long as I have a guitar (or bass) and amp, I'm fine.

Ok, I'll take that as a no...since it isn't going to be cheap.
