This thread title alone suspended all known reality, even before the "is really hot" part. I'm glad to discover she's not his girlfriend, as I no longer have to worry about gravity reversing itself or being attacked by flying monkeys.

I don't fully get it either. Also, I might be tempted to say it's a more appropriate description for older people, depending on the interpretation. Cause when you're a teenager, people are like "Will you go out with me?" "OKAY! Now you're my boyfriend!" and it's just really silly. When you get older and stuff you're supposed to "date" and then you can be "dating" but not quite "boyfriend/girlfriend". But Per put a childish slant on the description of the relationship, which may or may not be true.

I fully agree. I've grown up in two completely different cultures and this is still not the case in any of them. I've only heard of that type of stuff from Americans.
