ZSNES sucks.
Super Slueth rules.
It let me play Radical Dreamers and everything else I have downloaded so far. The translation in Hyper Dimension sucks. Radical Dreamers is awesome. It plays out like a book. I just realized that I dont have a CT rom...or and ActRaiser rom...what's a great rom site?
JohnnyNemesis

RomNation.net is my favorite.

02-20-2006, 08:31 PM
Holy shit! Thanks! That site is so awesome!
JohnnyNemesis
02-20-2006, 08:32 PM
No problem. In my opinion, that's the only decent ROM site out there, even though they're missing out on some great ROMS due to potential lawsuits :(

Since I don't HAVE to vote; I agree.
Because that voting is shit. It didn't work once. Not once. Grr...
What games do you recommend (aside from obvious like Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy) ?
JohnnyNemesis
02-20-2006, 08:38 PM
What emulators do you have aside from the SNES ones?
I'd suggest:
Super Punch-Out!!
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire 2
Chrono Trigger (of course)
Gemfire
Saturday Night Slam Masters
And I'll come up with more soon.

Sweet.
And finally, what's a comfortable button configuration without the SNES controller peripheral?
JohnnyNemesis
02-20-2006, 08:44 PM
You mean to play on a keyboard? In that case, there pretty much is no comfortable button configuration. If that's not what you meant, it depends on which controller/joystick you have. Post a screenshot of yours if you have one.
ruroken
02-20-2006, 08:48 PM
I meant keyboard...
so there seriously isn't any remotely comfortable configuration at all?
JohnnyNemesis
02-20-2006, 08:49 PM
Not in my opinion, but maybe you can handle keyboards better than I can. Either way, configuration is all up to your taste as far as keyboards go; mess around with things and find what feels comfortable for you.

Yah, ChronoTrigger is a must. Maybe Zelda, FF6, Earthbound, Breath of Fire, Lufia, Harvest Moon (Shut up), and Killer Instinct if you have a gamepad. Oh and Zombies ate my neighbours for screwing around.

I used to adore that game.

So...Star Ocean came out on the SNES and not the NES?
JohnnyNemesis
02-21-2006, 12:10 PM
You should get an NES Emulator too. I'd have kickass game suggestions for that. I use that one way more than my SNES emulator, even though SNES is my favorite system ever. Plus, the files are smaller and the downloads are quicker.

Fire away. :)
JohnnyNemesis
02-21-2006, 04:23 PM
Sweet! Here we go:
Mega Man
Mega Man 2
Mega Man 3
Mega Man 4
Mega Man 5
Mega Man 6
Flipull: An Exciting Cube Game*
Castlevania
Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest
Double Dragon 2
Gun.Smoke
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
Lunar Pool*
Ninja Gaiden
Ninja Gaiden 2
Ninja Gaiden 3
Super Dodge Ball
River City Ransom
Wizards & Warriors
Xexyz
The ones with the asterisks are the ones you could probably play using only your keyboard. For the rest? Yeah, you almost definitely need a controller or something. The bolded ones are the ones you should DEFINITELY play, because they're like, the best games ever.

Lately I've become obsessed with Street Fighter 2010, even if it has some of the most cumbersome controls known to mankind. I get bored of the easy games really fast, though. Ninja Gaiden, Solomon's Key, Rampage, Heavy Barrel, R.C. Pro-Am and Kung Fu are some of my other NES favorites (aside from all the obvious classics). Most of these are ridiculously cerebral and unfair, so have fun.
JohnnyNemesis
02-21-2006, 04:28 PM
Wait, add Street Fighter 2010 to my list, and a BOLDED Strider to that list too. The former is hit or miss, but it's definitely interesting...and Strider just has a soft spot in my heart for being a good game with GREAT music.
BREAK
02-21-2006, 04:31 PM
The NES version of Strider is retarded. Not even close to the greatness of the original arcade game.
Also, I can't fathom why anyone would bitch about playing NES games on a keyboard. It's TWO damn buttons people, just make the arrow keys the control pad and you're set.
Homer

Agreed. But trying to get the damn DeJap thing to work took me too damn long, because I was using ZSNES.
Here's a good site for ROMs that I like to go to: www.emu-russia.net (just look for "English version" at the top).

The movements are an issue, not the buttons. Can you honestly play a side scroller on that thing?

I can and I do. You've got two hands, don't you? Move your character with one hand and make him shoot/jump/slash/punch/kick/throw grenades/cast magick spells/eat hot dogs/etc. with the other. Sure, it's harder with SNES ROMs, but how many of those games actually USE all six buttons anyway?
JohnnyNemesis
02-21-2006, 08:40 PM
So you can play something like Mega Man, with all that diagonal jumping and shit, on that keyboard? I call bullshit or exageration.

The ROMS. No shit the games, but none of my roms have music...or sound, for that matter...is it just my emulator?
JohnnyNemesis
02-21-2006, 08:57 PM
That's what I meant when I said that. And that's real fuckin' weird that they have no sound. I dunno what the problem is, 'cause the ones I download from the site I gave you always work fine. Try a different emulator.
ruroken
02-21-2006, 08:59 PM
Aye. But Super Slueth is the only one so far that has worked properly. But it's a beta anyway, so I guess they haven't gotten to that part yet. Back to ZSNES or are there any others (snes9x is ghey) that you can think of that are * at least * decent?
JohnnyNemesis
02-21-2006, 09:00 PM
I used SNES9x myself. I used it on PC, and now I use it on Mac.

Emulators were invented for one thing and one thing only: F-Zero. Everything else is just bells and whistles.
Best without a doubt is:http://romhustler.net/. I've gotten every rom in the world off that site.
In my opinion best emulators are:
Sega Mega Drive/Genesis: Fusion
Super Nintendo: Snesgt
Nintendo 64: Project 64
Game Boy Advance: Visual Boy Advance
They are all top quality emulators all feature packed.

^That one is my second favorite ever. Good call.
No problem. In my opinion, that's the only decent ROM site out there, even though they're missing out on some great ROMS due to potential lawsuits :(What most sites have in common is that they don't offer Game Boy Advance/Game Boy DS or Sony PSP roms.

Now, where can I get the Zelda and Super Mario Bros. roms?

Final Fantasy 5 is great if you can find it. Super Mario RPG is good for a classic, too. There are a bunch of others, but I deleted a lot of mine.

No, I'm talking about the fifth one. I forget the guy's name, but he has brown hair... and that basically all I remember about him.
