I'm curious what everyone's preferred bass guitar is. Mine would be a Jazz Bass.
I adore Jazz Basses. Due to what I consider an uninformed mistake (and a lot naivity) I bought a P-Bass Deluxe, active I might add. I despise the thing. I'd readily play my old Squier if I still had it over playing my P-Bass. The neck's thickness at the nut puts far too might stress on my hand when I try to make certain quick transitions and reaches I can do easily on a Jazz Bass. I've had to live with the thing for over a year already.
I played an American Jazz Bass with the parallel/series pickup switching... the thing was like an orgasm in my hands. Not to mention the tone blew me away. With the parallel/series switch down it provided some of the nicest deep tones I've ever gotten from a bass guitar.
I'm also considering checking out one of the Jazz Basses with the in-bridge pickups because I've heard those are interesting.
I've played a number of off-brand as well as major brand basses, as well as some majors, but I still found myself drawn back to the good 'ol Jazz Bass.
