Crap that kids listen to. Magnus Uggla (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_Uggla) is the only one I really remember.

The Offspring, but I also started to listen to some older rock and metal, because I started listening to Rockklassiker (http://www.rockklassiker.se/).
2004-now
And here are the bands which I started to like in 2003 (I think) but didn't really "check them out" until 2004/-05:
Judas Priest
Manowar
Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath
Metallica
Dio
And there was a short punk/punkrock phase (which I'm still sort of in) during 2005.

When I was little... I was really into metal and grunge and stuff. Eventually went from that to pop-punk... then dropped most of that and started liking ska. And that's where i'm at now. Mostly ska with a little pop-punk and punk thrown in. As for the future.... I'm checking out a list of ska bands give to me to see who I like... The Specials, Choking Victim, Leftover Crack, Bandits Of the Acoustic Revolution.

Well I started listening to the radio in 2000. I liked a lot of what I heard on the Top40. Really poppy stuff. I just liked music in general and would've been happy with anything though. I mainly liked the Offspring.
2001, the top40 station had annoying technical problems so I switched to the rock station more. Through rock stations I started liking
1. The Offspring
2. Korn
3. Limp Bizkit
4. Papa Roach
5. 3Doors Down.
2002. I went through a gay punk period, I started liking bands like AFI, NOFX, Pennywise. Whatever was popular and punk.
2003. I pretty much liked the same before. Except add Marilyn Manson and Bad Religion.
2004. I found the Smashing Pumpkins and that has been a love ever since.
2005. I went through a really weird folk music period. Particularly Irish folk. Particularly the Dubliners, and the Pogues. I also liked Johnny Cash and Woodie Guthrie.
2006. I like what I like now. It ranges from everything I liked before (except from the years 2001.) With an interesting new range of taste!

Pre-1995
Mainly jazz. Don't know the artists. There were jazz discs in the stereo all day and I loved all of them. I don't know if I still listen them since I can't remember who they were.
And Beatles, of course. My brother was a huge fan of them and always making me listen their albums. I still listen to the albums I love.
Manhattan Transfer. When dad was taking me and my brother to the kinder garden they were our favourite band to listen in the car.
1995-2000
I started playing piano on '95. After a couple of months I became a classical music fan. The first favourite composer of mine was Vivaldi. Sadly, I can't stand Four Seasons right now. But Korsakoff, Rossini, Schubert CDs keeping their places in my stereo.
I started listening rock bands like Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, etc...Still listening all of them. I guess I met Johnny Cash in these years.
2000-2002
Mom bought me a gypsy music CD. I wasn't into music in those years. Can't remember why.
2002-2004
After falling love with a boy with bad musical tastes Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Offspring and LOTS of metal crap were the things I listened. Sometimes I listen Offspring, I'm still a big fan of Sepultura and I still listen Swedish metal although it happens too rarely.
2004-2006
Weirdly, I don't feel like listening music anymore. I just listen when someone recommends me something. And Robbie Williams. That's all, I guess.

I can't do this at all. there's so much more I listen(ed) to. it's always depended on my mood. also through the years there was a lot of rapz0rz & gangsta shit. I still find that awesome. old Kelis, Wu-Tang Clan, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Outkast, you name it. it's hard to say what I don't listen to anymore. for the sake of sentiment I listen to everything once in a while again. when it comes to some bands/artists I just don't buy/download their newer stuff.

2002-2003
Okay so take out all the rap and shit from the previous period of time.
Insert every mainstream punk band that you could think of. I also carried on with some of the grunge shit, but I went into this über punk mode...It wasn't pretty. My major bands of listening pleasure were :

That's my favorite one! Although, to be fair, i've only heard that one and TruANT. And I lost TruANT a long time ago.
Maybe I should dig it out and give it another go. I might do that this evening, and they might be promoted to Orange status.

Haha, sorry to disappoint you. I bought the new album last wednesday and it's another masterpiece. They didn't have to do the U2 cover again though... and the extra accoustic song at the end was rather surprising (in a good way)

I really love that new album. A Place Called Home was great but this one might be even better. And ah well, they only released the older U2 cover on the European version of APCH. And now everybody around the world can enjoy this great cover ;)

Fair enough and they did a few changes in the new version aswell (probably because it sounds more like their live performance of the song this way). I have to give this album a few extra turns though before I decide I like it more than APCH or not.

My best friend, Jesica Peovich and I, Eugenia Romero met in kinder garten. When we were 5 we started going to different schools, but we still saw each other. And we wrote a lot of songs. Not smart songs, as seen as we were only 5 years old.
But songs started getting better with time, I started playing guitar and making the chords for songs, and then we started with the idea of the band. And we made people think we had a band and the songs we played were from the band acually. But the band never existed.
That was until Jesica met Agustina Horton, who played piano, and his older brother Tomas Horton played electric guitar. So we started essaying the songs we wrote and we got a bass player, Ignacio Gulich, Eugenia's class-mate. The band was complete, and we started playing in different places. With their conflicts and virtues, the band SOS was meant to be the band who will change the world.

Due to the fact that I listed about 2% of the bands I listen to, I doubt you could make that assumption. And Osker is not that great. They are decent. And I can admit that not every band I listen to is terribly talented... I don't listen to music always for talent. I could easily say that I listen to a lot of stuff that takes far more talent than Osker, anyway.

Yes, I managed to discover, love, and become disinterested in Less Than Jake and Rancid in a period of only a few months. It really tells you something about them I would say.
As for upcoming bands - I just listened to Common Rider for the first time a few hours ago, and they kick so much ass, I think I'm crying. I've only heard three or four songs and I already love them more than Operation Ivy or Rancid, or any other band that they're associated with.
My musical ass has been kicked.

That's not the point of this thread, though. It's supposed to show how long you've been listening to favorite bands, and also what phases you've been through. It's a very reflective thread.

I guess these are kind of "favourite" bands of each time period, not just broadly everything you listened to at the time? I kind of go through phases with different genres I guess, different stuff. I'll give this a try, but the idea behind it is a little vague:
1986-1996
- Mostly parent's music I guess, Beatles and Bee Gees and Fleetwood Mac and stuff
1996
- Was really into Presidents of the U.S.A., guess they became my favourite band when I was 10, a little before I got into The Offspring with Ixnay
1997
- The Offspring
- Green Day
- Everclear
- Weezer
- Metallica
1998
- The ska epiphany. Heh. Any ska band of this period, you name it I was listening to it.
1999-2002
- Skipped the whole "nu-metal" thing, never really got into it.
- Listening to a lot of classic metal and ska and jazz at this time
- Also really digged Default and Three Doors Down and such, still do I guess
2003
- POWER-FRIGGIN'-METAL. Introduction to maybe my favourite genre now, along with ska.
2004-2006
- Not a lot has changed, just wider variety of the same stuff I guess (plus a bit of jazz and a lot of orchestral stuff like movie scores, etc)
- Probably favourite bands at present (it changes every day though) would be Iced Earth, Hammerfall, The Aquabats, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sex Machineguns, Galneryus, Reel Big Fish, Megadeth.
- Favourite of all time probably The Offspring, Smashing Pumpkins, and Default.
