I have been having trouble with this and I think I may have not done so well on the quiz I had today.
Let's say the equationg was 5/6x=12
Could that be written the same as 5 divided by 6x = 12?

you're trying to say "5 http://www.commonsoftinc.com/Babylon_Cpp/Documentation/Res/Images/Symbol/divide.gif 6x = 12", right? If so, yes.
Jesse, I saw that ninja delete.
unless it's written as (5/6)x, but that'd make your question even more retarded. I hope you know 5/6x=12 can be written as 5/12=6x?

More obviously, in case you're really not getting it,
(5/6)x = 12
is
5x divided by 6 = 12.
...I'm aware, yes.
I feel like I was just treated like the ultimate blonde. I probably had that one coming.

technically i'm going to be a dick and say that it's an ambiguous equation.
5 <div> 6 <mul> x is ambiguous. some sort of grouping needs to be placed.
x is either 72/5 or 5/72.

No, I got that you were aware. Some people just don't understand the way stuff like that works AT ALL, so I thought I'd clarify it beyond any shred of doubt.
