it's supposed to be "ik ben beter DAN JIJ". holy fuck, I hate it when people mess that up.

the rest of that I didn't really watch. lego is good to play with, not to look at.

"als" is more appropriate in "als, dan, wanneer"-sentences.

when comparing two things, situations, people, whatever, in English you use "than" & in Dutch you use "dan". it's not much different, really. I don't understand how people ever started using "als" in such a sentence. it's probably about the same mistake as using "then", except the two words look a lot less alike & therefore it seems more ridiculous to me to mix them up.

if you finish the sentence, it'd become "I'm better than you are", or "ik ben beter dan jij bent". just finish the sentence in your head by putting the correct verb behind it & you can't really go wrong. ever.

my mother always was very keen on correct use of the Dutch language. ;p

'tsall good :) I was in Amsterdam last thirsday and everyone who I was talking looked at me like.. "what the hell are you trying to say?".
Seriously, I walked to the Amsterdam Centraal friday morning and this guy started talking to me. It went something like this:

He- "Hey alles goed?"
Me- "Wat is 't?"
"Alles goed"
"Wat, waarom?"
"Where are you from?"
"Ja-uhh Nederland.."

And then he walked away.

that's better than how I was after the bbs meet-up. I went shopping after I dropped off some sweethears at the central station & I walked into a store;

me: how much is it? *points at skirt*
dude from the shop: 35 euros.
me: alright, that's not too much, I think I'll take it.
dude from the shop: where are you from, you here for the hollidays?
me: I'm from... wait a second.. I'm from.. Ik kom uit Amsterdam.
dude from the shop: oh okee!
me: ja, ik ben nog wat confused, sorry, verward, ik mean, ik bedoel...

over verwarring gesproken....
