...next Sunday, AD.
There was a guy named Joel.
Not too different from you or me.
He worked at Gizmonic institute,
Just another face in a red jumpsuit.
He did a good job cleaning up the place,
But his bosses didn't like him so they shot him into spaaace.

We'll send him cheesy movies,
The worst I can find.
He'll have to sit and watch him while
They moniter his mind.

Keep in mind Joel can't control
Where the movies begin or end.
Because he used those special parts
To make his robot friends.

Robot roll call!
Cambot!
Gypsy!
Tom Servo!
Crooooooow

If you're wondering how he eats and breathes,
And other science facts.
Just repeat to yourself,
"It's just a show, and I should really just relax...
...for Mystery Science Theater 3000"

Let's all talk about how awesome that show was. It was awesome.

It was awesome. Supposedly the guys that did it are doing something similar over the net where you download their commentary as an MP3 and listen to it while watching movies.

Yeah, it's called Rifftrax. They're pretty closely affiliated with Something Awful. I think Lowtax even did a few movies with them.

Quoted for truth.
You know what sucks about the DVDs is that the episodes on them seem to be picked at random. The set I have has 2 episodes with Joel, one with Mike and Dr. Forrester, and then one with Mike and Dr. Forrester's mom.
Also, apparently some of the guys are releasing dvds as The Film Crew (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Film_Crew) now which I never heard of until just now.

I have faint memories of this show. When's the last time they aired it? Like 1996 or something?

It ran from 1988 until 1999, but they still aired it on scifi until a few years ago.
