Hey folks! Those of you who were around a while ago might remember that, every now and then, wheelchairman (http://offspring.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=180) and I (http://offspring.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=2110) would share some weekly (http://offspring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23489) "mod picks" on a semi-regular basis (http://offspring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23938). It didn't last long, and this probably won't either...but I thought I'd give it a shot again and share some songs I've been feeling lately. You might find some good stuff here, and it might spark some discussion.
Oh, and be warned. This edition will feature more songs than usual. Expand your horizons! Enjoy!
Without further ado:
Sono - All Those City Lights (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/02%20All%20Those%20City%20Lights%201.mp3?uniq=-wtongf)
This song/album just came out a few weeks ago. I don't know much about this band except that I got the album and I'm really digging it. They're listed as "Synthpop", but they sound more like straight rock to me. From Germany, but they sing in non-broken English. That opening riff is addictive as fuck.
Afroman - Let's All Get Drunk Tonight (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/07%20Let%27s%20All%20Get%20Drunk%20Tonight.mp3?uni q=-wtonfr)
Remember that horrible "Because I Got High" song? It's from this guy. He has other songs, you know. No, seriously, he does. Don't believe me? Give it a click. Oh, and this one is actually funny!
Berlin - The Metro (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/05%20The%20Metro%201.mp3?uniq=-wtong3)
I'm assuming many of you know this song already. The BEST song from one of the BEST Synthpop/New Wave bands of all time. Just unreal. Fuck you if you would rank this anything less than an 11 out of 10 on the awesome-o-meter.
Yazoo - Don't Go (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/07%20Don%27t%20Go.mp3?uniq=-wtonfx)
MOAR 80s plz. Actually, this song doesn't feel all that dated (at least not to me) because Allison Moyet's vocals are too strong to be stuck in time. You think you've never heard this, but then the chorus is gonna hit and you're gonna be like "OHHH! That song! I didn't know this was Yazoo!"
Los Prisioneros - Tren Al Sur (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/Tren%20al%20Sur.mp3?uniq=-wtonf9)
Unbefuckinglievably catchy and just plain GOOD 80s style music from the 90s. One of the bigger hits in Spanish rock/new wave history. Language difference is barely noticeable because the piece is very accessible and again, so fucking catchy.
Fischerspooner - Happy (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/09%20Happy%201.mp3?uniq=-wtonfl)
One of my Top 20 favorite songs of all time by one of my Top 20 favorite bands. Good synthrocky electroclashy whatever stuff. And there's even BETTER stuff on the album... I just thought it'd be nice to hit you with the rockin'est one.
Dovetail Joint - Level On The Inside (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/02%20Level%20On%20The%20Inside.mp3?uniq=-wtong9)
I don't even like this song too much, but something tells me you guys might. This is the only "hit" song from these dudes from Chicago. Decent stuff.
Proppellerheads - History Repeating (https://vspace.vassar.edu/rialmonte/History%20Repeating.mp3?uniq=-wtonff)
A few of you might be familiar with this one, but I'm not sure. Maybe the most interesting song on my list. Catchy jazz lounge but rock type feel is how my friend describes it, but I think she's an idiot. Good song.
