Hey guys,
So we finally have some unmastered first mixes of a couple songs from my band's album, a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure rock opera about a couple, Snake Dawg and Baby Blue, who have become bored with their committed & loving relationship--and the various ways in which they fuck it up trying to make it better.
I play bass and sing backing vocals. In the two on this page, the only vocals I have are in the bridge to "How Rad We Are"--I do the harmony line. That's probably why these two songs are two of the best songs on the record, hahaha. I'd love to hear what you guys think.

It's not really my style of music, but i thought "How Rad We Are" was pretty catchy.

Thanks. That's my favorite bassline, too. :)
BTW, the singer from Motion City Soundtrack does backing vocals on "No Business."

I really like this. A lot. Nice work! It's very quirky, but not in a gimmicky sense because you actually have, like, the talent to back up the storyline idea. It sounds really cool and I like the idea of a choose your own adventure cd. A lot.

I could draw you a chart. There are four possible endings (all tragedy!) and all four storylines start with the same three songs. Or you could come see us in a couple weeks here in Brooklyn. It'll be our last show for awhile so everyone should make the trip out. ;)

I'm actually really quite enjoying this. I wasn't really expecting too, because it seems pretty far out to what I normally listen to.
I really liked the fun behind No Business. Really liked the Guitar/Bass to drum interactions, nicely done.
edits: I liked the production too, everything had space to breathe, but without sounding completely polished and overdone.

Thanks! I'm glad you dig it. Some of the songs are heavier, and there's a couple dancier songs. That's the sound of 11 people and on "No Biz," a ton of multitracked horns--it was a lot of work that the guitar player/bandleader edited together and I helped mix and produce.
Listening to the tracks again, I forgot that I also did some vocal harmonies--the oohs and aahs during the chorus. The main part is the boys, but I did two vocal lines above and below.

I liked it. It reminded me of a more rock-oriented version of the Acid House Kings.

The harmonies fucking MAKE these songs. Very bittersweet. I love when bands go to the trouble of making their stuff singalongable on more than one level. If I were producing I'd ask politely for more horns in the mix.
Looking great in the band photo too there, LM. ;)

Aww, I'm sorry :( Hopefully they come to their senses, because I just listened to/am currently listening to your songs, and they kick ass. I especially like 'No Business'.

LOL, thanks. I would love to but do you know anyone who writes songs? I want to do a totally gay electro thing.
