I don't entirely understand "Deaf Child" signs. Seriously, what do they think of me? It's not as if, upon seeing a child in the middle of the street with his or her back to me, my default reaction is to maintain speed while leaning on the horn. "Wait a minute... there was a 'Deaf Child' sign back there. I guess I'd better brake for this one."
I mean, yeah, I get that the deaf can't hear cars coming, but give the kid a little credit. I'm pretty sure a deaf kid, like most kids, would know not to stand in the middle of a busy road. Maybe instead they should make "Dumbass Child" signs.

umm... can't say i've ever seen those signs but frankly, whatever gets people to lay off their horns is ok with me...

Isn't that what the "Slow Children at Play" sign is for?

That was, word for word, what I was gonna post before I accidentally closed the tab. Uncanny.

Also, aren't young children by definition rather not smart?

I interpret "Dead Child" signs the same way I interpret yellow lights.

What I don't understand about the signs is that where you see it you see no children at all. The sign is totally needless.

"Dead Child" signs
I don't think I've ever seen one of those.

Oops. I got the actual sign mixed up with what usually happens after I see the sign itself.
