Routers and Torrents and Speeds.

My router just went out, so we're having to buy a new one. No biggie there. In the mean time, when the family laptop isn't being used, I'm using a direct modem connection on this computer rather than through the router. And now I'm curious, in regards to torrent download speeds, does this direct hook up quicken or slow the times, or have no effect what so ever?

If you didn't have your ports forwarded then it should speed it up. Or alternatively you should reach your max speed quicker.
