Artist of the Month, Jan '09: The Switchblade Masquerade

The Switchblade Masquerade are an Electro Rock 2 piece from Glasgow, Scotland. Their music is transcendent to genre and includes elements of everything from straight out rock energy to lush symphonic backdrops.

The band started out when the two members met at University while studying music, after Sheepy showed Erin a demo track of a new style of writing he was experimenting with. They then set out to find out how to recreate this sound live and The Switchblade Masquerade was born.

In August 2008 they released their debut EP “Goodnight”, and are touring the UK in Febuary 09 which will be followed up by a new single release in March.

These guys became the first Artist of the Month thanks to sheepy more or less coming up with the idea of the whole thing. Also, I love them & actually bought the EP through iTunes. When February approaches, I'll choose another artist for that month. You can PM me suggestions.

i like em, i cant help but hear 'don't stand so close to me' by 'the police' in the fallen song... no idea why but when i heard it thats what i found myself singing. really well recorded and although different to my usual taste i liked it

Congrats, you two! I was pleasantly surprised to hear Goodnight on there. I remember that long while ago, when Sheepy posted this song with him singing (presumably before the band got together) and I liked it then. You guys definitely have your own style and I like that a lot. I wish you all the best.

Switchblade Masquerade - what is there to say?

To be fully honest I hate the name of the band, but it really doesn't matter. Ever since Sheepy showed up on the boards I've loved what he's done. He's a complete maniac at everything he seems to try songwise and it just all sounds so well put-together and arranged.

It's great. I wish I could go on and on about them but all I can really do is attempt to boil down my excitement and tell you that I can't describe them to you. You have to listen to them.
