So... what song would it be??

i usually go with "all i want", "pretty fly" or "can't repeat"

Hmm, good question. It's funny that I've never thought about this, though I often want to get people into the band.
I'd probably choose Come Out and Play. It has a little bit of everything that a popular music fan may like. It's catchy and has a pop kind of feel to it, there's a bit of a rap vibe, and it's rocking, but not too heavy.
But I change my mind before I even press "submit". Gotta go with Pretty Fly.
EDIT: Dammit. It largely depends on the person. For instance, my little sister doesn't like rock, so she got into them through Pretty Fly and COAP. For someone who I know likes punk but doesn't know Offspring, I'd through on something fast and banging like Dammit I Changed Again. Maybe I'm overthinking this...

i like to tell people about Blackball, Beheaded, Get It Right, and their cover of the Damned's Smash It Up.

I Choose, Can't Repeat, I Can't Get My Head Around You!!

Tough question: Beheaded, I'll Be Waiting, Dirty Magic, Gone Away, Mota or Self Esteem (Everyone seems to love that one)!

Well, I actually just introduced them to a friend recently, and the song was You're Gonna Go Far Kid.
Actually I've used that twice, and it's gone over very well both times. One now admits she likes the Offspring's music, and the other couldn't stop playing the song on her ipod. So I think it's a good choice!
Edit: after listening to it, both of them were interested in hearing more. win.

I'd do half truism, simply because of pure awesomeness..
If that's lost on a someone it's probably better I don't interact with them much after that.

Breaking arms works much better ;).
Want you bad. Always kicks ass.

Depends on the person's tastes, but probably Self Esteem or Come Out And Play.
I Choose, I Choose, I Choose, I Choose, I Choose, I Choose, I Choose
Definitely I Choose, it has everything from every song the band has ever made. Really awesome and serious lyrics but with a lot of typical Offspring humor and funny references. The song itself sounds punkrock but also happy and upbeat.
The video is again very Offspring. This entire song just screams The Offspring.

Self Esteem for everyone and for someone, who likes new wave and new style of punk, definitely Want You Bad...

Maybe it's just me but I've never really liked the song that much.
EDIT: But if I were to go with Ixnay, I'd most likely pick All I Want.

I normally just play as many songs of theres when i cab around my friends - bad habit goes down pretty well. I think if it were a more metally type person then kids arent alright woulkd be a good option. i tend to avoid playing songs like pretty fly and especially why dont you get a job as i absolutely detest that song
I have never chosen only one song...but usually I start either with something slow like Kristy, or with something fast and energic like YGGFK, or something funny like SIMU... I just realised all of my examples are from RAFRAG, but I have made 2 of my friends to listen to the Offspring thanks to Kristy and YGGFK... but still, the most attracting song seems to be TKKA. It has never been my top favourite song, but I love it because 3 of my other friends now like Off thanks to it...

Oh, it really depends on the person... but most of the time, Pretty Fly (almost everyone recognize that one here in Sweden), TKAA or YGGFK.

Smash, I Choose, Way Down the Line, Self-Esteem, Gone Away, or TKAA probably.

Simple question for me :D
Want You Bad, The kids aren't Alright, Why don't You get a job?, Self Esteem, Hit That.
This songs are the most know my all the people, once they got into the band, we make'm listen:
Gone Away, Bad Habit, Come out and Play, All I want, Can't Repeat, I Choose, Have you Ever, Mota, Staring at the Sun... etc.
if I had to choose from the new album, i'll say Nothingtown and You're gonna go far, Kid

Yet you failed to answer it.

Pretty Fly. It was also the first one I heard by them 11 years ago. :p ;)

If it was just based on head-bopability (feel free to use that term) and if it was supposed to be immediately catchy, then I'd probably choose Come Out and Play. that one always win people over.
But if someone told me to show them, why I think they musically can rival even the best, I'd go with Pay the Man. That song is a masterpiece of epic proporions.

Well, I find that when I play The Offspring around people they always comment on 'Gone Away' ... so I suppose it would be this one. As for Pretty Fly, most people know this song and associate it with The Offspring and they already either love or hate the song, so I don't believe this is a great introduction song for the band.

Recently I have gotten a few people on my internship onto the Offspring. I just let them listen to RAFRAG and they were hooked. They had all listened to the Offspring years ago during the Americana era but didn't know that they had new albums out.

I would pick Gone Away for the meaning of the song or Pretty Fly(For A White Guy) because it is a fun song that most people that were around in the late ninties know pretty well.

I agree. Self esteem is a good song to play to someone who hasn't heard of the Offspring. It really sticks in my throat that a lot of people who don't know much about the band know the songs pretty fly and why don't you get a job, especially why don't you get a job - my least favourite offspring song ever! I always tell people, seriously, this is not what the Offspring are about xx

Definetely Staring At The Sun. It's typical for The Offspring in my opinion.
The another one could be All I Want.

Um, if the person listens to punk rock, definitely All I Want. If the person does not, Pretty Fly is the obvious choice, and TKAA might work well too because of its melody-driven verse and chorus.

my favorite songs: Can't repeat and TKAA
Unnatural Disaster
08-20-2010, 12:28 AM
I've done this for several people already:
I burn them a CD of my favorite songs and a majority of their singles and let them decide which they like.
I make sure I put at least 2 songs from each album on the CD. With the length of their songs, I can usually fit 23-24 songs on one 80 min disc.
I did this for one of my co-workers recently. She fell in love with Dirty Magic and now listens to The Offspring almost every day!
andrea.

I think I would go with songs like:
"Pretty fly, Why don't you get a job, Want you bad..."
They are funny, catchy songs...People can really like that stuff.
To real punks, rockers I would introduce songs like:
"Beheaded, Kill the President, Bad Habit, Dammit I changed again,
Conspiracy of One..."

i'd say here ya go listen to my ipod shuffle mother fucker u might be stoked. :D
Either Hey Joe or Intermission. Or Basket Case.
In reality, probably I Choose. My friends always seem to like that one.
Just hand them a copy of Ixnay on the Hombre. It's one of the best punk records of all time, and the Offspring's greatest achievement. From the first song to the last, that record doesn't have a single blemish or weak link.

i would have to say pretty fly ....... cos i dont know one person who has not heard of that song
and then i would .......

Depends on who I am showing them to. Some of my friends have particular tastes so I pick the songs based on what they like.
