The most unpractical gift ever, but its shiny red and makes me grin when I play it.

Hmm, you could send it to me if you don't like it... Unfortunately i'm left-handed and that's a right-hand model...
Although i could just change string positions and play like Hendrix :p

IMO, The telecaster is the single greatest electric guitar ever made. I'd want a natural swamp ash if I were getting one for a present, though. Is it a fender or squier?
Also, don't feel down, it's not only for country as some people say it is :p

oh its definitely a fender mexitele. My dad had two: one made in japan and the other made in mexico. I like the mexican twang a little better. I'm definitely gonna need to upgrade the pickups though. mines got a maple neck which is fine. I certainly prefer that to rosewood as far as teles are concerned. "classic" made teles are hella expensive. I'm shocked they even went so far as to buy me a fender tele instead of a squier. I'm pleased. Its great for playing the who.

You have to go thru all the trouble of making it, wiring it, and possibly failing terribly :)

But you can't buy Padauk/basswood combo chambered Ibanez S's, with a maple neck, padauk fretboard, a single high output, nickel covered bridge pickup, and 1 mega-ohm volume pot. Not to mention it's at least 500$ cheaper to DIY :D

Nobody answered my question :( What's so unpractical about a guitar? Is it some special guitar? It looks pretty standard to me...

lol i'm totally broke and hardly play guitar at all lately. its not that i don't absolutely love the guitar... it just seems a little backwards cause they could have gotten me something i actually need.
