Introduction:
Hey! Randy again. What a thrill it is to be put forth as Artist of the Month for a second time (technically). Thanks to David for letting me have the tie-breaker, and for the two other people who voted.
Musical style & influences:
So, McFear...it's a really fun project. I love it. The sort of "point" of it was to put use to all of these intruding non-punk ideas I was having. The whole thing started a couple of years ago when I started having ideas about a song for my friend. She liked country, so I turned the distortion on my amp down and started messing around with proper chords. It took me a long time to finish that song (O.L.E.)--a lot of time spent on clean settings--and the more I experimented, the more ideas I came up with.
My influences continue to shift every now and then. I first intended it to be a more indie/folk kind of thing, but things are changing. Punk is always going to be a major player in this, but I'm now finding myself getting into '80s pop (loooove Cyndi Lauper), synth rock (ie The Killers), post punk (ie Datarock)...They Might Be Giants...I can't quite put them in a genre. So this is where I am right now. I'll put up the three songs I have recorded right now, and tell you all that I'm dangerously close to finishing another one. It has everything but vocals.
