Fascinating. Without any further research at all, I'd conclude that like so many things, our views on morality and homophobia seem largely defined by the Victorian-era prudes. (Nah, actually like I would imagine with most of the Victorian era prudishness, that was only when the sentiments were institutionalised).
Anyways I don't know who sourced this article as the only reference is at the bottom to what appears to be a blog. The top links to a page that is no longer in use. However the article itself mentions a Professor John Boswell. He's real, and he seems to have done what it said he did.
Speaking of John Boswell, he's been dead for 16 years. This seems like the kind of information I would've liked to have known years ago.
Oh and bonus, he was opposed to social constructivism.
Not that there's anything wrong with it, people at my university just seem to think it applies to literally* everything.
*I literally mean literally.
