Ron Welty's Drums

Does anyone know why Welty played his drums so low? I consider him an influence stylistically, but there's just no way in hell I could ever play drums that low. It's like he played from the shoulders. LOL

Also, what has he been up to post-Offspring?

Personal preference I guess, I read somewhere that he had back problems in his earlier days, so that could probably contribute to it.

I have my drums pretty low and my throne higher so fills are easier, that could be it..
