View Full Version : Strange copy of Conspiracy Of One?

Hiya

Recently found a copy of C-O-O in girlfriend's cd collection, which (I can only assume) is a bootleg / very weird copy

Pressed (not home-burned) cd, but the on cd artwork is different to mine, in that it has no text or tracklisting, just huge logo from the actual artwork in color.

Even stranger, Americana is on the CD too. Right after C-O-O ends, it runs straight into the entire Americana album, start to finish.

I'd assume this is just a dodgy copy, but I'm used to seeing bootlegs as nasty-printed, home-burned things, not properly pressed, color-artworked consumer CDs.

Anyone have any ideas?

So.. there's nothing truly unique about it? No songs you've never heard? No unknown album art?
It's probably a bootleg.

It would be fun to see a picture of this album. But it does sound like a pirated one.

No unique tracks at all, the CD is just C-O-O straight into Americana, all tracks, none missing. Bar code checks out, cover and back cover seem to be legit too.

Putting CD into Windows Media Player it identifies as Americana

Don't they sell a lot of these type of bootlegs in Russia or Asian markets?

I believe that it was bought in United Kingdom, because it says £2.99. But it also says Oxfam (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxfam) (oxfam.org (http://www.oxfam.org/)), which makes it a little odd.

The "Produced and mixed by Brendan O'Brien" text typeface, on the back, differs from my copies.

Bar code identifies as C-O-O in UK (used iphone redlaser app).

I've seen russian/chinese pirate albums before, this just seems weird due to the tracks on it, and no mention on the cd / artwork.

Oxfam is a UK charity shop (thrift store), was bought there a few years ago apparently.

there is an ignition/smash one that was released in (i think) south korea.
