you guys are no help at all. or maybe ur just saying it because you dont know either.
when dreaming you structure & order new knowledge, new impressions & thoughts. a memory can occur in your dream, as you might be trying to give it a place in your head, but it's nothing more & nothing less than a remembrance of something that you've perceived. it's either something you've seen, done, smelled, felt, heard... or just a combination of things. memories are subjective views on past events you've encountered.

this is why its so fun to dream. I often dream that I learn something, or that I tell myself something and I feel like Ive never heard of it before. But I actually have to know what it was, before I could dream about it.
and not knowing the difference between a dream and a memory, is weird. It gets me confused from time to time.
monday night I had the most freaky dream. I dreamed that I had a relationship with the exgirlfriend of my housemate, which is an ugly pile of bones with a huge nose & without personality. I constantly felt like; "oh fuck.. I'm going to have to kiss her again, just because she's my fucking girlfriend & because I'm expected to." *shudders* it was horrible, until Huibert (my current boyfriend) walked into the room (we're still talking about my dream here) & then I realised that in real life I'm involved with -him- & not that boring nose. (I used to call her 'The Nose') I was all cheery & bouncy again, until I woke up, found Huibert next to me & felt; "oh fuck, I'm supposed to kiss him, because I'm expected to."
yeah, I've been so goddam confused lately. I still love mah Huipie, though. things are just.. wah, I dream too much.
A dream you remember becomes a memory. But if the memory is clear you will remember it occured in a dream.

There's a few simple differences...
A dream occurs only when you sleep, as a sequence of memories or most likely, new events in your imagination entirely.
A memory is what you think happened in the past. A memory isn't an occurence (spelling?). It can happen whenever you decide to bring it up from memory.
A dream can include memories, and you can have a memory about dreams.

Are you talking about the difference when you are conscious? or when you are unconscious? (if that makes sense)
