Dexter I need your advice!

I just started a Band and are plan is to start out covering song of you and NOFX or maybe Anti Flag. But we dont want to do that forever! If you could give some advice on how to write songs I'd be very happy because my other band members dont seem to be interested in writing anything. They say that " we dont know how". I dont now how myself but I want to find out and I think your the best person to ask. Thanks see ya :)

Just play around on your instruments [not meant to sound rude], and just see what you come up with. There's no 'procedure' to writing stuff, you've just gotta mess around and be a little creative.

If your other band members aren't willing to try that, kick them out of the band. :D

if your bandmates don't want to write songs, get a new band. if they're willing to play stuff you tell them to that is good.

how long have you been playing your instrument for? as you gain more experience you learn what chords fit with what riffs and so on.

for example, you might write a cool riff, figure out a basic four-chord pattern, mess around with the chords a bit, use different octaves or hit certain notes when switching chords or something like that to spice up the rhythm.

I'm in a muck around band where we only do old skool
music covers.
Don't think about being serious until you're certainly
confident with them.
