hey, to each his own. you gotta do what sounds good to you. thats what important, right?
its part of what makes the offspring so great.
i like ho it sounds. it seems a lot more whole.
middle finger should be used for the fourth. seems weird, but it explains some of why the offspring sound the way they do. so like, if you have your pointer on 7 and your ring and pinky on 5, then use the middle for 6 on the fourth string.
i'm using all four now and my first finger doubles as a mute for the high strings. its taking some getting used to. it makes jumping between strings harder but motion up and down the fret board is infinitely easier.
yeah. thats the problem with tabs. they try to overcomplicate things, and you are left to think "how do they do this live?". they use shortcuts.
i am having to relearn how i do powerchords. i'm doing them the way Dexter does. I was just barring it rather than a finger for each string, and that was starting to cause problems because of the pressure it had on one of my fingers, which didn't matter before but now it does because i am playing so much more.
its not too difficult when you realize what he's actually doing compared to how it sounds. i just can't figure out the last few notes.
i'm working on putting names with the chords. i'm alright at solos. i've been practicing the ones i know from offspring tunes. i can't figure out the end of the TKAA one, which is holding me up for my acoustic version. i let disclaimer hear the intro and he laughed cause it is a little reminiscent of the island style one noodles and higgins made, except not that slow.
fuck! i still haven't messed with hammerhead. tomorrow.
I'm not dead...there's just been a buncha shit going on involving my freaking extended family...god I hate them...>_>
yeah... i'm mostly trying to work on knowing chords better. after that, i'll start in on scales (most solos tend to follow around a given scale. knowing them can help with improv type solos.)
