Hrm. I mostly stick to PC for my FPS needs, but Battlefront and Battlefront 2 both earn an easy nod in fun PS2 shooters.
I hear Syphon Filter is fun, though it might be third person.
There are a few Tom Clancy entries in the FPS series for PS2. I really don't stick by it that much. The PS2's main selling point for me was just the range of awesome games there are on it. No matter what you like you'll find something worth your time, and it allows you to broaden your appreciation with quality brawlers like Budokai 3, RPG gold like FFX and so on and so forth.

Red Faction is a great fps on ps2.
Red Faction was multi-platform?
I'm currently obsessed with MLB 2k9
I was a HUGE fan of the first Red Faction and thought there was no way the sequel could beat it. Then I got Red Faction 2 and basically crapped my pants because they managed to keep everything that made the first one awesome and improved on any weaknesses the first one had. The story was irrelevant to the first one, but the sheer awesomeness of the whole game more than made up for that.
Hey, RE5 is coming out on the 13th. it was released today in japan. Any japanese gamers that are on here get it and play it?
I want it badly (correct useage thanks to Dexter), but I can't afford so I'm either gonna wait until easter (gifts on easter sunday is a tradition in my family) or my birthday, which is in june.
Patience is one hell of a virtue, isn't it?
