Party with friends vs Party alone

I have a good group of friends, and when we go out we have fun (at least the part I remember).

This summer I (just me) went to the Brussels and Amsterdam shows, and emmediate after that to Scotland for 2 weeks of vacation. I found that when I go out alone, I meet way more people, and just have a lot of adventures. When you're alone, you're practicle forced to talk to strangers. If you're with a group you usually hang out together.

Is this just me?



Examples:
Helping a english junky sell a (probably stolen) bicycle to an other, very drunk englishman, in the middle of Amsterdam. This after being in a bar with a guy who lookes like Frodo from LOTR.

Doing my infamous American accent impersonation to a group of people from around the world.

Getting kicked out of a supermarket with some local who forgot his ID.

Sorry, I'm not a partier, so I can't help you. I have the occasional party at a friend's house, but that's it.

How do you go about doing that? How do you get in touch with random people from another country you never have met? And even to hang out with them?

A hostel is a good place to meet new people. You just go to the communal spaces, and sit with some people. You'll be surprised to see how many people travel alone. You could be in a pub with them 5 minutes later.

Also, don't make plans, and if you did, be willing to break them. One day i had planned to go to some museum, but ended up in a citytour with guide, and a pub-crawl.

But most of all, I'm a very likable person:cool:

Thanks for the advice! I've always wanted to go travelling by myself. The hostel thing sounds like a good idea really.

i've always liked partying with other people rather than alone. but it really depends on the company. I don't really like going to bars and talking to random people, but I am quite social and will talk to pretty much anyone. It's sort of a "by-chance" thing for me.

Friends, definitely.

There are some social activities I do enjoy going solo for, like concerts.

You like to go alone to concerts? I can get when the band is playing, but the travelling to the venue and the waiting before the band gets onstage is terrible to do alone. It is a bit awkward. I did that when I saw Against Me! last year. It is really boring to stand there alone, but luckily I got a bit company from Andrew Seward who checked out one of the bands warming up.

I pretty much always go to concerts by myself, yeah at times I wish I wasn't by myself waiting for the band to start, but overall I don't mind it. I enjoy it.
