Do you agree with the above statement? Or do you think that the Draft Constitution constitutes a necessary development to increase the stability and legitimacy of the EU framework?

Of course it is a vote for the establishment. I'm always surprised when communists and socialists support the EU.

The EU commission is a group of self-serving business interests interested in having their products sold cheap while maintaining huge tariff walls. (We've seen how this creates poverty in Africa, a difficult question, even with the fact that we give financial support to our farmers.) Of course the Danish Commissioner to the EU is married to a plantation owner, so I'm sure she's interested in the small farmer's case.

Worker's rights will play a huge roll. The Service-Directive that the Commission wants to pass basically would destroy the unions in Western Europe, by allowing Eastern Europeans to do the same work for Eastern European wages (obviously not a nice wage to have in Western Europe, an expenseive place).

Also there will be less democracy. I mean a little country like Denmark certainly won't get too much mandates to the parliament. We won't even have a permanent seat in the Commission. A nation cannot go do anything contradictory to EU's foreign policy (Of the Constitution: Part 1: Paragraph 3: Article 15.2) (I'm translating this from Danish for I don't have an English copy.)

Also there is talk of a common military, and all that will create is the basis for an imperialist power along the lines of USA. Especially since the EU is right-wing Neo-liberalism by nature.

Sugar Farmers in Southern Africa (a cornerstone of their economy) can't compete, that's also due to the dumping of excess European sugar on there market. It's due to more than Tariffs, but it certainly can all be attributed to EU policy.

Haven't heard about the sugar planatations in South Africa. I suppose their economy is hurt yeah, but what I meant is don't blame their poverty on trade tarrifs. It's actually rooted elsewhere. Now South America, on the other hand, is a classic example.
