Here, I'd like to get your thoughts on some underrated beers. The ones people seem to hate but are surprisingly acceptable. Or the ones that you know aren't really high quality or that good, but you just enjoy every now and then.

I'd like to get some input before talking about my own preferences ('cause I'm really not that smart or interesting), but that's a shitty way to start a thread, so I'll start off with Heineken. It's usually put in one of those lower categories, but it's some crisp good shit.

Heineken is actually my favorite beer right now. I'll ask this question again: Have you tried Blue Moon Honey Moon Summer Ale? Delicious.


I'm also partial to Killian's Irish Red.

Killian's Irish Red is another very underrated drink.

And naw, I have not tried the new Blue Moon/Honey moon summer ale but I saw it in the supermarket the other night and got really excited. I think I'll pick up a 12-pack next payday. Blue Moon is one of my favorite beers and so I'm excited to check it out.

At this one bar I go to around here, they push this Southhampton Double White Ale on people when they run out of Blue Moon. It's absolutely delicious, even lighter than Blue Moon (and the fruitiness is even more subtle, which is a plus in my book), and just really really good stuff.

I absolutely despise dark drinks of any sort, and this includes dark beers, but that's just me. So when I say that good beers are lighter or use light as a compliment, that's just my opinion. And don't bother with the racial joke, it's predictable :/

Leinenkugels! especially for all you people that enjoy Blue Moon. Try the Sunset Wheat, it's pretty swell. Light and fruity. numnumnum.

Sam Adams Cherry Wheat is good. It's a big name (which I'm not usually big on, cause I totally admit I can be an alcohol snob), but it's just really good.

Harp Lager. I'm mainly a fan of wheat beer, but this is good.

when it comes to pumpkin beer or oktoberfest, everyone always goes to sam adams. but try Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin. it's like....warm and spicy and just.....very fall. very good. you might only be able to find it in single bottles, but it's worth the money.

From 95% I drink beers from our local brewery www.holba.cz not everybody from other regions likes them, but I do. Others are occasionally Budweiser, Pilsen, Kelt or some specials.

Qingdao Black. I had been previously unaware the Chinese had a dark beer, or a good one, for that matter.

And I don't believe it's underrated, but I'm a fan of Shiner. It's a semi-regional brew, and quite good. And anything local kicks ass. Assuming, you know, it's good. Yazoo was a good brand - my friend actually named her second dog after it, as our favorite brew was Dos Perros. Oddly, there was a serious difference between the taste on tap and the taste out of the bottle.

Heineken is awesome. Easily the only beer I can drink for any occasion.

Although I am currently dry.

Rogue Dead Guy Ale is damn good. I also feel like not enough people give props to Modelo Especial. There's also a surprisingly good Nicaraguan beer called Victoria. Don't think you can get it in the States though. I'm also a fan of Spaten, but it's not exactly underrated.
