I was just wondering how many people know what yesterday was the anniversary of without looking it up. Because I asked a shit load of people and they didn’t know. Quit frankly I believe it’s a very important day in history, which should be celebrated.

I'd go with "remembered" or "honored". "Celebrated" is a little overenthusiastic for my liking. And yeah, I know my history.
