VW: Were those the first shows that you'd missed with the band?

GK: There was one show years ago where the bus left me and they didn’t know it until they got to the next show. We were in Germany and everybody was hung over from the night before. I was off the bus real quick, they got on the bus, they left and ended up in Denmark before they realized I was gone, so they used one of the crew guys to play. But that was the only other show before these ones that I’ve missed.

Well, my son is only seven. But he thinks it's cool. We play Rock Band together and he wants to be in a band. He wants to take my place. He told me that he's going to be in The Offspring someday. I said, 'Really? What are you going to do?' He said, 'I'm going to take your job.' At six he was saying this. I immediately stopped his guitar lessons (laughs)."
