I always thought it was pretty interesting how their time between albums was cumulative, ever since Dookie.

I was legitimately expecting their next one to come out in 2015.

Shenanigans was actually a collection of b-sides and unreleased songs, but I always count those as an album release since it's full of material not on any other albums.

Ugh, ugh, ugh. I listened to Brain Stew today and totally basked in the times when Green Day was actually good and fun. They developed a serious case of Tom Delonge Ego after American Idiot took off. And just like Delonge, the only thing they're *really* good at at all is fun and creative pop-punk. A.I. tried to be a rock opera (it was a concept album, but definitely not a rock opera), with multi-movement song (they weren't - they were just a bunch of really short songs crammed into one). Then they tried to expand on their non-rock opera, and this time tried to give the album "acts", which also failed and weren't really acts. Now they're off to release a 3-album set?? I get this honest feeling that they looked around the music industry, saw how badly double-disc albums flop, and said, "Yeah, but we're FUCKIN GREEN DAY. Two discs might not have been successful for hack like RHCP, but we made a rock opera and multi-movement tracks and multi-act albums. Hell, we can sell a THREE-disc album!!"

Warning was their worst album imo.
But AI is a close contender (except for Homecoming, which is a fuckin great song, and St. Jimmy), and i'm usually not so much into concept albums. but releasing a trilogy in such a short time is something new/innovative, and i like stuff that's new and innovative
They had some secret club shows and played a bunch of new songs there. Some nice oldschool stuff, but also cheesy ballads and other filler songs. I have no clue what the albums will sound like. Maybe Tré! only contains songs written by Tré, which would be truly amazing, hands down.

I agree, 21CB had bunch of fillers, and I rarely ever listen to that record, and releasing three albums in a few months will just have even more fillers I am afraid. They managed the concept album thingie pretty well on AI, not so good with 21CB. I wish they could just let go of this concept album craze.
I hope the three albums won't be fully priced.

^ From 39/smooth to American idiot, each album had a unique sound to it but with 21st century breakdown it seemed that they were just trying to replicate the success of a and failed..... My expectations for the new album are incredibly low but that may be a good thing as I may end up being pleasantly surprised.
