Oh ok i wasn't around in 04. But still i hate it when people compare The Offspring to Green Day. I don't see how they are similar, there two completely different bands to me.

Because Green Day and the Offspring are both 90s pop-punk bands, and a lot of people like both of them. There are tons of Offspring fans who also like Green Day. Personally, I love Green Day's stuff from Warning and earlier.

Really? You don't see how they both have very similar careers, and their older music has a lot in common? Yep, they're different bands, and don't sound the same. However, they started around the same time, released their claim-to-fame album in the same year, and continued to release albums at around the same rate as each other. Plus they were both greatly responsible for the huge punk revival in the 90s, and their singles from the 90s are huge punk rocker anthems throughout the world. Just because they have different styles and sounds doesn't mean there are no similarities.

I think this is the point at which I start to cut the guy some slack. Addiction ain't nothin' to fuck with and, given that he was hustled into rehab so soon after that festival incident, I can't help but assume that the two are related. And it must be pretty severe to have had two hospitalizations in such a short time. Sure, that only accounts for this one blowout, and he probably is still an all-around prick, but I can't hate him for that until I know more.
