Finally I make an appearance
Your new album is pretty solid ... I especially like the song 'Oh Dear' partly because I'm drawn to the melody, reminds me of old school punk
Also congrats Adrian ... you have managed to produce three amazing albums this year alone ... this is quiet an accomplishment![]()
Sorry it took me so long to get around to this, I've been way too busy for a normal human being....first thing's first, I like this:
I think that is totally fucking awesome, and I also liked the song in question a lotI can't deny that Static Martyr made country-esque music more attractive to meIt was something completely different than what I'm used to hearing from you. Stuff like that is good every once in awhile, just to remind people that you're still trying different stuff. I dare say it's quite poppy (and from me, that's supposed to be a compliment~).
Honestly, though, I'd be just as psyched if it was some weird kooky techno or something....in any case, it's the song itself that hooks you and the idea that keeps you coming back.
Also, extra points for the misleading song title
Other highlights:
-I like the song Antagonist, especially the intro. Very proggy, very different, then suddenly very hardcore (and good bass). Likes! If I had to draw a comparison here, it would be to Bad Religion's song "Only Entertainment." It just gives me that kind of vibe for some reason....
-I Want A Hero is pretty damn cool, too. It uses a familiar chord progression for that pop-sensible feel without coming across as a cliche --- just kind of like you saying, "We can still do pop stuff, if we want....we just don't want to." I'm sure the lyrics are fine and dandy as well, but unfortunately the lyric file (and NOTHING ELSE in the entire .rar file) was corrupt, so I don't have a copy....
-Why Do You Cry At Me makes me think of this song by one of my old favorite bands, Collective Soul, called "I Don't Need Anymore Friends." Is a different guy singing it? That could be it, because in IDNAMF, the guitar player sings lead vocals instead of the normal singer.
(the song in question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8DwkwxHm7A)
-Oh Dear makes me think of the Clash. Specifically, Brand New Cadillac. It has that delicious 70's-80's radio vibe.
That's all for now. More later if I have time and feel like it![]()
"I'm sorry
For all the things that I never did
For all the places I never was
For all the people I never stopped
But there was nothing I could do..."
Thanks! I'm happy to hear that people like both Oh Dear and Why Do You Cry At Me? because these two are written by my guitarist and seem to bring some welcomed diversity to the Ricetigers' music!
Thank you! I'm really glad to hear such positive feedback from you. And yes, it's my guitarist singing in Why Do You Cry At Me?. He also wrote that one and Oh Dear, on which he also does parts of the vocals.
By the way, we might get to play a show in about 2 months!![]()
OOH OOH OOH! You gotta take pics and/or videos!By the way, we might get to play a show in about 2 months!

Alright, it's been a looooooong while again since I last posted in here but here's some news:
I just uploaded a new song from our upcoming album called "Indigence" to our myspace, so be sure to check it out!
http://myspace.com/ricetigers
We're also constantly rehearsing and we're almost ready to play the show on 11/07. We're going to play a 9/10 song setlist depending on how many songs we'll still manage to learn. Right now we're at 9 songs (5 of our own songs, 4 covers).
Also, I'm trying to organise a bootleg or at least a short video of our show so you guys are able to get an impression of the show
In the meantime, I hope you're able to enjoy the new "single" from the new album which is going to be called "The Other Way".
I am really looking forward to seeing the video ... I would love to see you guys in actionI am also glad to hear that rehearsals are going well and that you guys feel ready for the gig. What covers will you be using the show?
I have listened to your new 'single' and it is Ricetigers all the way ... awesome as always![]()
We're going to cover some Offspring, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Liquido (I think this is a german band, does anyone know them here?) and maybe Bad Religion. The song names are a little surprise
I'm glad you like Indigence! My guitarist also liked it, which is always a good sign![]()
