Pennywise
They're an amazing band. Just felt like saying that. My sister bought me a vinyl of From The Ashes and I think it's my favorite album by them now. I used to like NOFX better, but I like Pennywise better now. It's cool they've been independent for so long.
What do you guys think?

I think if you actually give their newer stuff a chance, it's not as stale as it first seems to a lot of people. But, the newer stuff is still lacking enough musical change to really get too excited about it. They really haven't evolved or done anything groundbreaking, but in the newer stuff it seems they messed around a bit with some of the stuff that newer punk rock bands were doing and successfully worked that into their sound.
I'm not sure how I feel about PW with the new singer.

They were never a favorite band of mine, but i did enjoy their music. I thought their last record with Jim was pretty fun: one of their better efforts in recent years.
I'm a fan of Black Pacific too; their record last year was a lot of fun. I'm more excited about them, than Pennywise at the moment.
I'm also pretty sure i managed to see one of Jim's last shows with the band, when i saw them open for the Offspring in the summer of 09.

From The Ashes is my favorite from them too. What is strange, I never managed to find a decent good-bitrate and quality rip of this one on the net until now. Land Of The Free is close second, maybe because it was the first one I heard from them.

I used to call NOFX my second favourite band. But then I started listening more to Pennywise and Bad Religion.
It is hard to name a bad Pennywise song, if you exclude the earliest stuff (A Word from the Wise/Wildcard has some bad songs, for example.)

Their new album is out in May. The song All or Nothing is good. Not great. Does not sound as much as Pennywise without Jim. But I can get used to it.
