Harper doesn't seem too bad to me. His foreign policy kinda sucks, but he doesn't sound psychotic nor hateful like the current US conservatives.

As a scientist, I dislike Harper because he has cut a lot of the funding that was allocated to scientific research. Beyond that, he has cut a lot of funding to improve basic rights to Aborginal peoples. The foreign aid policy he has cut immensely. He has cut a number of environmental programs, including demolishing a lot of Canada's efforts to prevent climate change (i.e. pulled out of the kyoto protocol) and cut a lot of programs protecting fresh water research (necessary as we have so much).

Problem with canadian politics is that they are canadian politics. And nobody cares about canadian poltics except for the 17 canadians that live in canada. I didn't even know canada was a real country until I saw them attempting to compete in the olympics.
