99% percent of the time, i would agree with you. they are mostly cheesy, contrived, and make the band look like a dumbass. however, check out the band suburban legends at a show, and they pull it off very well.
but yeah, mostly, dance routines suck.

It depends on the style. My friends and I have come up with many dance routines, we did one for Dope's cover of "You Spin Me Right Round (Like A Record Baby)" and then a lot of 'em for folk metal songs. I hate classical crap and then the pop routines but if you do it to metal, it's fucking awesome.

I can't dance most of the time. I got kicked out of ballet....twice. The first time I broke a mirror with a stick, the second time, I did everything my teahcer said, and she still kicked me out. What a bitch. I can do the mackerina and the headbang, which really isn't a dance. I'm the worst dancer in my choir. I like the game Dance Dance Revolution though!

haha i suck soooooo much at DDR! but at nickel nickel, they have this game thats like DDR, but with a drum set. im decent at that one.
