If you can come up with a good, sound reason to lie to your child about something so silly, then I'm all ears, but I haven't heard a really good reason to do so. I've just heard some excuses along the lines of, "What harm could it do?", or even stupider, "my parents lied to me about it, so why shouldn't I lie to my kids?"

This is really the biggest thing for me. I mean, it's really stupid to lie to your kids for a few years when you obviously want to raise your kids not to lie, but what's even stupider is that there's no good reason to do it. The whole thing is just dumb.

Santa, by and large, is an unpleasant concept to me and my mom was never good at faking it to begin with. I doubt my future, hypothetical children will be raised to believe in him.
