View Full Version : Worst hangover ever
China Boy

From former expercience from these boards I have noticed that Worst hangover ever isnt a very popular of a song. But after listening to it a few times it didn't really sound that bad, I actually found it quite catchy, not what I had thought of before.
Any other opinions about this song?

I always thought it was an experiment- like The Offspring experimenting with reggae. I didn't like it at first but it grows on you. Its really funny I think. Besides, there has never been an offspring song I haven't liked.

I especially like the part:
Could you please kill me?
Put me out of my misery

Anybody who's woken up after a night of extreme partying will sympathize with the line "I'm never going to drink again - at least until next weekend" because that is so true!

hahahaha :D The song is funny, but I don't like it that much... it's the only song I don't like that much on Splinter... the reggae style doesn't fit with offspring's style, I guess.

I expected Can't Repeat would be like, another experiment, but when I heard it, it was proper Offspring style, so I was very glad.

I don't like it. The lyrics aren't really funny and the song makes me feel like I had an hangover.

When You're In Prison is only a joke song. I don't think you can really compare any real songs with it.

Yer I think its a good Ska Song ok Not you average Offspring song but I like it. I think the reason why some people don't like it is cause its different not becasue its bad.
I love playing it when i have a hangover casue it actually eases it. And makes me smile. :D

You guys think to much and pay attention on many details that aren't very important.
I believe you should all enjoy the songs. This song is particularly funny and original.I can't stop laughing when I listen to it and remember how many times I went throught that :D

It's not great, but not horrible either.
I'll put it bluntly: there are only three Offspring songs that piss me off. WDYGAJ, Want You Bad, and Spare Me The Details.
WDYGAJ, while the videoclip is funny, and the Beatles homage is a great little novelty, just firmly cemented The Offspring as a band the mainstream just doesn't take seriously. Pretty Fly was funny, people dug it and got into it knowing it was The Offspring pulling a joke. But Why Don't You Get A Job really got people thinking, and the respect levels dropped. Not that I care, but overall it's just a pretty weak song, too. Always annoyed me how Ron was only in the videoclip for all of 10 seconds or so, too.
Want You Bad is just royally shite, to express my honest opinion. I mean, I LOVE The Offspring, and have been virtually worshipping them since I was 11, but this song put a total downer on CO1 for me (which, unlike most people, is an album I actually enjoy). Hell, Original Prankster included, which is obviously just a blatant attempt to cash in on Pretty Fly's success and repeat it. At least they rectified it on Splinter with Hit That, which while "poppy" or whatever, was genuinely clever.
Spare Me The Details is the same, just a nail in the coffin. Don't give me the "it's acoustic, so you hate it?" angle - bull. I love acoustic songs, all the little bits in Self Titled, and while not acoustic I guess, the ballads like Denial, Revisited are some of my favourite songs. Just think this track is weak, is all. And why the hell not make a video? It was never an "official" single, but with all the radio airplay it might as well have been.
..
Worst Hangover Ever, on the other hand, is pretty alright. Not awesome, but I definitely think it's better than these mentioned above. I guess people just don't like it because of its happy, ska-ish, and somewhat "cheesy" vibe. Fuck it, who cares, I still think it's written ably enough.
This might all sound pretty negative apart from the last bit, but yer. I sort of see Worst Hangover Ever as more of a She's Got Issues or Feelings level song than the others I mentioned. Just sorta "average" for the newer Offy style.
*Long-arse post, I know. I'm sorry, just bored as hell and killing time at work
(This is NOT an anti-Offspring rant, I love the band, and am really digging the two new tracks)

I don't like at all usually, but when you're hungover it's nice to have a song that describes your misery.
