Ok, I've been a huge Nine Inch Nails fan for a long time now. Coincidentally, I live in the town that Trent Reznor grew up in, and I graduated from the same high school as he did. But that's beside the point.

Am I the only one that thinks that the new album, With Teeth, is a little disappointing? I don't see much of a spark throughout the whole CD. I'm actually fairly let down. I thought it was going to be somewhat life-changing, and here I see that it was only an over-marketed, inopportune album.

Eh...I guess every artist has a speed-bump. Does anyone else think that it wasn't exactly a noteworthy CD?

On another note, my brother's friend's dad went to college with Trent. Just felt like sharing.

I really enjoy reading most of your topics and posts. They're rather insightful. I wish I could make some contribution here but unfortunately I don't know NIN well enough to judge them in any way.

The anticipation that comes along with waiting for a new album to be released can be great and sometimes you end up disappointed because of it. It's happened to me before, not exactly a wonderful feeling but you'll live. Ah, expectations make life so much harder sometimes. I'm just trying not to expect anything.

You have a really good point. The anticipation for the album was greatly built. However, I think it has more to deal with the reputation of NIN. The previous albums, The Fragile and The Downward Spiral especially, were remarkable. With Teeth just seemed to fail to live up to the past successes, in my own opinion.

And thank you for such a lovely compliment.

Sometimes I wish there were more NIN fans here. Though, it would make the BBS a lot more depressing. Haha...

Yeah, not easy to live up to previous success. And then again the bands are always trying out new things and new sound to evolve a little. Might not always be so good for the fans.

How long have you been listening to the new album? You know, sometimes with me it happens that I discover the beauty of music after many times of listening to it and thinking it wasn't that good before. It's probably not the case, just a thought.

Oh, you're welcome. :)

I've been listening to it for the past month now, on and off. I just don't see the same eloquence in it that I saw before. And addressing the fact of finding beauty after expanded time, I understand completely. It's happened to me, too. Hopefully, it will happen with this album.

My friend burned me the new cd a while ago, but the cd was horribly scratched up. I couldn't hear a single songs full length.

Trent's pushing 40 and yet he still writes lyrics like a 15 year-old.

Fucking PASS.

Pretty Hate Machine was a great album, though I haven't picked up any other from NIN since then. I was considering eventually getting this one, but now I'm not so sure. Probably best play it safe and pick up one of the classics.

Pushing 40? Dude, he turned 40 in May.

Oh, and if you want to hear the stuff Trent was writing fresh out of High school, PM me and I can send you an MP3 or two, or three, or fifteen.

Dude, I can listen to the stuff he did while he was IN high school. He made a band called Pegasus. The other members were Jim Bennington and Richie Bowler. Jim is my best friend's dad. Richie is my god-mother's brother. I totally have the hook up.

Oh yeah, and if I ever want to go backstage to a NIN concert, all I have to do is give either of them a call.

I'm not a big fan of NIN, but that's still awesome.

Sorry about that. I usually don't brag.

The video for Closer is so awesome. I have similar goggles and I love them so much.

Suprisingly, I don't have a lot of NIN gear. It's weird, because I'm a huge fan.

And I'm totally jealous of your goggles...Grr...

My friend calls them the Reznor goggles and tends to take them from me on random occasions.

Have you ever noticed that Trent has never appeared nude (or close to nude) after that video? I guess that since he must have gotten a full-body wax before filming that video he didn't want to subject himself to that kind of pain ever again.

If you've seen the recent photos, Trent's kinda hairy. Short, beefy, and hairy.

I love Nine Inch Nails, but I don't got the latest album yet. I'll get it in a couple of days. I love The Fragile-album.

I didn't enjoy it at all. And "Only" is such a shitty song that I could just cry.

I don't know why this thread was revived. But hey, whatever.

I've been in a huge NIN mood lately (depressed, lonely, hateful). I'm glad I brought all of the albums with me to college.
