Right now I have a choice between an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, an Ibanez GRG170DX and an Ibanez Noodles Signature NDM1 (used). What would you get? And please everyone don't say "Noodles."

I'd choose the ibanez one coz it's less expensive and a very good product. i'd not buy it used.
Epiphone are good if you're a beginner too

The Noodles or the other? I've been playing for several months on a no-name Strat, and though I should upgrade.

Sorry ! I was talking about the GRG170DX.
Actually, i have an ibanez GAX30, not bad, i like this brand
Why don't you want all of us to say The Noodles ?

He doesnt want people aimlessly saying to get the Noodles model without thinking first, I would definatly go for the Epi, but thats just me and because I like Les Paul shapes more than I like Ibanez bodys, best option for you is to go to your nearest guitar shop and try them out to see wich one you like best

Thanks for the advice, SkyRocker and mrconeman. I don't like the GAX shape though....
Yeah, I was originally all for the Epi, but then I found out Guitar Center got a Noodles, and went to try it. I've been playing the same thing for months, and this taste of fresh air was like heaven...so obviously I was all for the Noodles. But I came to my senses in a few days and will try the Epi and GRG (see, the GRG is going for the same price as the Noodles - about $200 - 'cuz the Noodles is used, but in excellent condition). The Noodles is obviously going to be better than the GRG, so why bother, right...?

ah ah, never ever say something like that on MY GAX, please !
Your choice is good, tell us news after you buy it

That's ok boy.
Concerning The Tom Delonge thing, i agree that the NDM is infinately coolest...

Mota_RG570: They're too expensive. I'll ask if they have any used though.
What d'you think about the stock NDM1 pickups for punk-pop? I only got to play it a bit, and that was through a very sweet Crate amp (I have a Marshall MG), so that's not really saying anything. Thanks for all the advice guys, keep it coming.

2 double and 1 simple, that's perfect but a little bit powerful maybe

SkyRocker: I think you mean 'single,' not 'simple?' ;)
Now I'm beginning to wonder whether to get it or not...because I'm told a new amp makes more of a difference than a new guitar....
Right now I'm looking at the Crate GT15R. What do you guys think'o'that? Looks most excellent to me.

Yeah, "single", I'm a bit tired...
You know, you can use your guitar directly plugged on your computer and here, the guitar makes the difference. A good amp is needed for concerts.

Les Pauls are everywhere, I'd go with the Ibanez GRG170DX or the Noodles model, if it were between those 3. I personally like Fender guitars, but everyone's different. Seeing as how you're probably not into playing Zeppelin and Guns n Roses tunes, I don't see much purpose in getting an LP. The Les Paul generally makes a bluesier tone, so unless you're into playing stuff like that, I don't think that's what you really want.

The Shecter C-1 Artist and Omen 6 also caught my eye. Are they suitable for Offspring-style music? If not, the NDM's going to layaway :D
Oh and Guitar Center also has these:
Ibanez GSA60 - $209.99
Ibanez RG120 - $189.99
They seem like good prices to me. Is the RG120 better or the Noodles?

Both the GRG170dx and Les Paul Special II are the lowest of the lower models in their respective company. If you could somehow get the Noodles sig for the same price as those other guitars then definitely get it.

Yeah, the NDM1 is only $220 used in great condition.
Guitar Center has:
Ibanez Noodles Signature NDM1 (<-kickbutt deal)
Ibanez GSA60 (<-ripoff)
Ibanez Roadstar RG120 (<-ripoff)
Ibanez Sabre (<-??)
They're all about $200 used. Which is the best value?

You could probably get an RG470 for around 220 on eBay. Or this one, for exactly 220. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ibanez-RG320-DX-Electric-Guitar-w-Case-Nice-Cond_W0QQitemZ7341273931QQcategoryZ33043QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

The rg's aren't that great unless you have one that's a rg3** and over. Rg1**s are made in Indonisia or in China which is where most of the bigginner/cheap guitars come from. You should stick with guitars that are made in korea or Japan.

Ah I see. Thanks Jebus. NDM1 it is....
Is the Roland Cube 15 a good amp?
Jebus

I've only tried a Roland cube 30 before and it did kick some ass but I don't know if would say the same for the Roland cube 15 since I haven't tried it.

It's going for $600-$800 US wherever I've seen it - seems like a great deal.

Yes it does. It was probably worth 2 or 3 times that back in the day when it was new. The only thing that sucks about the old rgs is that they didn't have the all access neck joint. They just had the regular square heel joint but I wouldn't worry about it much.
