If you seriously, truly seriously have NO idea, go to someone responsible, either an authority, someone in charge or just older students and ASK QUESTIONS because that always helps. You've got to get at least a C in maths and English to do anything in life after GCSE's so I guess they're pretty important because of that - although a chimpanzee could probably pass GCSE maths. Science is pretty important too...

Depends what you want to do - you've actually got to to start thinking about whether you want to do sixth form and university or not, and what subjects you want to do for that. If you want to be a doctor, for example, Chemistry GCSE is actually pretty important because of the intense competition for medicine. If you don't then just make sure you get a decent grade (ie >B) in it.
