View Full Version : Wheelchairman's Song of the Week

Alright, I go through phases while listening to music. It's usually on a weekly basis, where a song will just click with me. Last week it was Daylight by Aesop Rock, before that it was Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangsta by Geto Boys, before that Lovercall by Danko Jones, it's rather random.
So I thought I'd share with the rest of y'all.
Right now, I'm addicted to the song Vanity by the Smashing Pumpkins. It will always be one of my favorites, but this song is just awesome.
It was a demo for the Machina II album, which was released only on the internet.
Anyways I'll post an mp3, and the lyrics every week. Reply with comments, or don't. However, DO NOT post your own mp3s. start your own threads. I will delete yours, because I'm an egoist and I can abuse my powers.
Vanity By The Smashing Pumpkins (http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1T7FVYBHWH0DW2QV3RW9J07EQ4)
You can hear the baby bones
Cracked beneath her wheels
Tears of Avalon
Streak silent down her shield
High crimes and misdemeanors
Unfortunate attacks
Will leave you standing nameless
While she's turning black
Vanity stands naked at my door
Vanity cries, why?
Eleanor, you've lost me in a haze
Of wine and cocaine
Gone out and cost me
Everything I blame
Broadcasting in TV detail
To call their own stories
As I try to recapture
The best and former glories
Vanity stands naked at my door
Vanity cries, why?
Vanity wants everything and more
Vanity must die
She swears she'll turn around
Turn around for good
She swears she'll turn around
Turn around for sure
You know you'll run around
Run around for her
You know you want to know
Pure
Ease on that dirt road
You've still a ways to go
Soak in sights and city lights
While you still can borrow
Cursed fall we'll find you
And bring a memory
The ghost of her surrender
And a kiss of anarchy
She's naked at my door
Vanity cries, why?
Vanity wants everything and more
Vanity must die

I'm totally starting a Michelle weekly thing so as to contribute positively to this forum and have been meaning to for like a month, it's different than this though, so be on the lookout!
Thanks for the download, I haven't listened to nearly enough Smashing Pumpkins in my life. It's a good song, I won't be deleting it.

I have only heard Zero by them. It is a fairly good song.

Awesome. You seem to have a huge amount of not-so well-known bands (at least for Europeans), that should be some good stuff, look forward to it.
And this song, I dont know, something about it, makes it really head and shoulders above the rest of their stuff. I can just listen to it.

Human, it is a good song. It bothers me that it was released before you were born.

What's wrong with that? I listen to plenty of old music, I see no problem.

I haven't heard enough Pumpkins either, although when Bullet with Butterfly Wings came out it was my favorite song along with Smells Like Teen Spirit. I've heard the SP songs they play on the radio, like Perfect, Killer in You, and whatnot, but I crave more.

Human, the problem is, you call it Old Music. I'm 19, jesus. *middle life crisis moment*
Coke, Killer in You, is known as Disarm :p
And yeah, the singles in general are pretty good. I can recommend their greatest hits cd, that's what I first bought.

The greatest hits cd is good, especially if you get the double cd. Cause then you get the singles and some rarities/bsides.
but i love everything by them. <3
Per, do you have the singles/bsides from MCIS?? The ones from the Aeroplane Flies High box set?

No one ever mentioned that to me. *giggles* Call the Belgian number, and preferably when drunk :D

This is only a semi-indefinite plan. And yes, our insobriety will definitely be a factor in it.
Hahahaha, maybe Tizz and I should do something similar when together this weekend :D
Anyway, good song :)

You definitely should. I'll be awaiting my phone call, and don't be sober. Tizz is hilarious on the phone when drunk.
Tizz is hilarious when drunk in general.
But it's not lkikely we'll call you drunk, because that'd mean we'd have to call you from the party, thus from a cell phone, and that's sexpensive!
wheelchairman
10-02-2005, 11:43 PM
Yeah cause Tizz has never called long-distance from a cell-phone while drunk before :p
Anyways, I gotta go. Unlike some lucky fuckers (you), my classes start in 25.
Haha, poor Tizzle then :(
I have to go too, train leaves soon :/ Poep at getting up early :/

Hey...shouldn't that be "Tizz is hilarious in general"?
And we can call him from my phone. For a little while. Just have to make sure it will really be a little while, unlike the other times I used my cellphone to make drunk phonecalls.
And Per & Sam, this slut can just burn that CD, will save a lot of postage? (I was gonna do that anyway? Forgot?)

Drunk phone calls fucking own. Except it's sort of embarrassing when someone has to tell me what I said the next day.
Ah well. Still good fun.

You'll get it, either in 3 weeks, or in November.
