I don't know much about them. I've heard then referred to as "metal for chicks". Which is probably a good thing as I can't stand very much "metal for dudes".
Haha, I made fun of someone for listening to HIM today :p Well... he doesn't listen to them actually, but I said he should cause he was acting all gothic and depressed.

him isnt depressing... thats nirvana. listin to nirvana too long and you feel so depresed u wana cut yourself. there a good band too tho.

I listened to one of the songs.... it's not that great. It's really pretentious and trying to go for that "uplifting" feel.

Hmmm, I have never heard any of their old stuff so I can't really pass judgement, but I don't like any of the songs that have received airplay lately.
Of course I have to comment my home country band... I can listen to their songs if it comes from the radio, but I wouldn't buy an album or anything. If Dennis Light (Ville Valo translated into English, heh) will stay healthy in the future then forget all the cigarettes are bad crap. He smokes hell of a lot (three boxes a day average) even though he has an asthma. Pretty arrogant guy overall, I think he said that most of the rock is crap these days and no one know how to write even proper chorus' ... but of course he is so good. Might be, I don't know, at least their new album got good feedback.

That's so true. The stereotype I have of their hardcore fans, ugh... don't bring 'em close to me.

HIM is definitely NOT the best band ever. This is fact. To all the HIM fans: listen to Sentenced; they do what HIM does like 5000 x better. I'm not really a big fan of Sentenced either, but Sentence is a shitload better than HIM ever will be.
Ville Valo is a good vocalist but I appreciate the man more for his wits. In every interview I read with him, he always seems level-headed and logical and a well-learned and read man.
HIM does clichéd rock music but I think the band has always acknowledged that fact themselves.
Come out and smash'em up!

my husband is male and straight and loves HIM, and his opinion is way more legitimate than yours. =p
that being said, HIM fucking rules. I can't help myself. i love cheesy gothy rock that constantly deals with themes of love and death AT THE SAME TIME. not to mention "Sacrament" by HIM is the most special song in the world to me.
Ville isn't all that attractive, but his voice is sex. And the band logo/Ville's tattoos are super fucking hot.
