Hey, i'm doing this thing for my Australian Studies class where we have to choose a song and the lyrics have to be about an issue that Australia is facing at the moment, now i figure the basic issues here are the same in most other countrys, and obviously when the teacher said pick a song, my first thought was an Offspring song, so i was wondering, what song do you guys think i could do? i was going to do D.U.I. or Bad Habit and make it be an issue about road rage, but these two songs swear, and that's not good because i have to hand up a copy of the lyrics :p

Any ideas? thanks heaps. :D

bad habit is a very good choice, and u can ***** the swearing:)
or maybe u could choose cool to hate-about young ppl's attitiude:)

What about Staring at the sun? It's about kids who want to fit in that badly, they hurt there personality. I used it for religion once.

You'd fit in so well with the idiots in my American History class.
We were doing current events, which is where everyone prints out or cuts out an article from the newspaper, summarizes it, then we talk about it in class. Someone chose an article about how Brazil was voting to outlaw guns, and the teacher asked if we thought it should be done in other countries, as well as our own. I swear, someone opened their mouth and shouted "THEY DON'T NEED TO DO THAT IN JAPAN! THEY BARELY USE GUNS ANYWAY BECAUSE THEY HAVE SAMURAIS!"
Later, someone else said a similar thing about Australia, when we were talking about the same article. Something about Australia being allll desert and having kangaroos. 0.o
So yeah, you'd fit in quite well.

hmmm that's a cool song, but i actually like the previous comments about Come Out and Play, maybe i'll pick that one... but there are some stupid posers in my class who think they like Offspring but they only know the hits, they are "pop bitches" as my bassist likes to say.
But i can't turn my back on getting the chance of playing an Offspring song in class :p

hahaha, actualy, you're right... my teacher hates me, but although i think i could get in big trouble once she heard it, she takes everything to the co-ordinater... fucking bitch she is...she's got issues. lol. :p

Hit that? Regarding the current increase in divorce rates and lack of monogamy in marriages and relationships. That is a big issue these days.

if your teacher would realy be pissed off obout the fact that there is cursing in the song then you should soncider doing a bach or mozart song, or you should do a religious piece, couse these days, there is cursing in all lyrics.

If there is one thing I have noticed about teachers, and people in general, they take what you say more seriously if you put it eloquently. So therefore, fancy it up and the teacher will accept it as a submission.

I'd choose Genocide based on the fact that in Australia we are becoming (if not already are) a very apathic people. Dog Eat Dog is the ultimate example of this.

yeah exactly. i remember i had an assignment is school (that was 5 or 6 years ago). we had to say sth about our fav band and play one of their songs. so i palyed americana (with all the fucks in it:D). my class loved it. then they wanted me to play more of their songs (pretty fly, TKAA, feelings, why don't u get a job and staring at the sun). i was surprised they liked it and even more surprised my teacher didn't mind the 'well fuck you!!!!' line. i'm sure she understood that one. too bad the class probaby didn't understand the lyrics of americana...

hahaha, funny :p but it turns out i chose TKAA for my assigment, because i didn't want all the posers being like "i know this song, i'm a huge Offspring fan" ... it's really funny on my behalf actualy... but annoying at the same time :) .
