Does Kerrang magazine Hate the offspring?

I think they do.

Because

1) The latest issue has a calendar with birthday of over a hundred rock stars birthdays inc. people from bands such as Green Day and Blink 182 to Guns n roses and Queen to SOAD to well you name it, except not a single member of the Offspring. Surely a member of the biggest selling punk band and the band that still owns the record for highest selling independent Record should warrant their birthdays mentioned, come on at least Dexter being the lead singer should be in there but no.

2) They hammered the GH in there reviews but when Blink did theirs they say its awesome, WTF its the same basic record one is blinks Biggest selling hits the other is THe Offspring's whats the damn difference except the obvious?

3) I never see any big articles about them in it. and when ever there is a poll kindda think like best music video etc they come way down the lists?

4) Kerrang TV never shows any of there videos


Am i missing something or does kerrang hate Offspring and twisting (like most journalists do) the minds of the readers away from one of the best and most listened to punk bands of the 90's if not of all time.

oh sorry 3 videos what happed to the classics as well as the new stuff.

Gone away is a awsome video and Cant repeat (both versions) are good not to meantion the ones from smash and well most of them they have 17 and they sometimes show 3 or 4 thats not exactly a lot is it.

1) So freakin' what? They're not the only band out there.

2) That's because GH was pretty shit anyway.

3) Because they're not doing anything interesting at the moment...

oh, and maybe that's because people don't like Offspring videos; i've seen far better. Clever, eh?

4) Because people don't request them, and again, because there are plenty of other bands to choose from.

when the GH was just released Cant Repeat was played A LOT...

and they did do lots of articles on them when they released the GH , they reviewedtheir UK gigs and overthe years the have had offspring in their articles a lot

offspring are hardly what id consider commercial in the same way as green day and blink 182! theyve said themselves they turn down things like TRL whereas green day and blink seem to go to any length to get the word out about new albums/singles.

offspring are one of my favourite bands but it all comes down to commercialism and the music, offsprings songs dont appeal to everyone the same way that green days do! and i doubt theres many here can deny theyve ever been into blink 182, they just write catchy anthems!

Maybe you're missing all the Offspring stuff. I've always been under the impression that Kerrang likes the Offspring since most of the time if they are on a magazine cover, it's Kerrang. If there's some sort of interesting or even insignificant article on them that people like to post here, it's from Kerrang.

If you want Gone away or other Ixnay/Smash era videos, just watch Scuzz, a much better channel in my opinion.

I think i got a few old pre-splinter kerrang's where Offspring had articles, memorable for the fact they talked about songs that we never heard of again, one where Dexter took one of their journalists on a plane ride and they noticed a Bird had gone through the engine when they landed, and one that was justy about Noodles house on the beach i think...

They can't be expected to remember everyone. I bet there's loads of big bands missing.

They did not hammer it, where are you coming from here?? They gave it 3k, which is a fair review for a GH with only 1 real new track (UK GH didnt have next to you). Blink got 4k I think, which is 1 more k for a better GH package.

Also, the DVD got 4k. That's pretty good cause they often slate similar music dvds.

I think they have a lot of offspring articles, the only reason I buy it. There was one huge one like 2-3 weeks ago all about there most succesful songs. And the offspring aren't even hot at the moment, most readers are wanting stuff like Greenday at the moment. Kerrang just print what sells.

I don't have kerrang, but aren't the videos selected by the viewers? I thought that was how it works so you can't really complain.

Kerrang do not hate the Offspring. They're extremely fair to them.

Kerrangs review on splinter only gave it an average 3 out of five and i think it derserved more than that

They do appear in the mag a lot i think there was like something on 10 things that noddles hates and at number one it was like xmas socks or something

Does it matter if some people at a magazine company hate them? As long as we know they make kickass music, thats all that matters. They dont need publicity to make them good. They dont need vidoes played to make them good. And who cares if they didnt mention the guys birthdays. They arent the only punk rock band out there.

and at the Kerrang awards he went to the toilet and some guy started slagging Offspring so one thing lead to another and he got in a fight with the guy....

he won..

he got in about 6 punches and the other guy got none :-)....

OK looks like i just missed somhtign good to here opnions on it but dont slate me for mine, any way i dont read Kerrang much i just havent noticed offspring related articles much as for the Biggest selling punk band, i probally use stats for them before American idiot but i thouth the figures were 35 mill for offsring and only 28 mill for Green Day but thats probally changed now due to american idiot. oh well ill just have to keep an eye out.

OH and Kerrang is chosen by the puplic but the playlists are chosen by kerrang and i think they play the playlist in a random order but you can ring in to watch a video you request instead of what is actually on. (dont hold me to that)

kerrang are fucking losers......they said green day are 'gods of rock' and named american idiot greatest song for the last 10 years (or something like that)...they play songs by eminem and gwen stefani...

in my opinion....scuzz is a much better channel...it plays the older offspring videos.

I don't think Kerrang is very popular in the U.S. as I've never seen it here, but I have seen many kerrang magazines posted here with Dexter/The Offspring on the cover.

And the GH wasn't exactly the best tracklisting. It's like the didn't even try. I still would like to see their birthdays mentioned because It's nice to see recognition of my longtime favorite band. but at the end of the day, It makes no difference. They won't break up because their birthdays weren't mentioned in a mediocre Uk magazine.

The Offspring still hold the title for the highest selling independant album of all time, although they aren't the biggest selling punk band. Statistics show Green day has sold much more records.


as long as you know that, can you post a link to a reliable site proving so?
I have no doubt that it's true because of Green Day's fame with the teeniebopper crowd lately, but I still have never actually found a reliable list after searching.
