hasnt this expired now? im sure it has! so what will they do get another deal or release there albums on nitro? i couldnt find anything similar to this thread so i started this one as i thought it needed more attention than just being a post in "new album" anyways ive read a few times that their contract was 4 or 5 albums long which means its expired now, if anyone has any info on this let me know thanks.

I don't think Nitro could put out an Offspring record. It'd drain too many resources from the other bands.

I think the contract was for 5 or 6 albums. If greatest hits isn't into these, there will be one or two albums more with columbia.

I think the Columbia Contract is for 6 Albums, and after that I have no clue. Might go to Nitro and just do single tracks and such and try to stay low.

Even were they to no longer be working with columbia, I seriously doubt that they'd have trouble finding a new label with which to put out their new album. They're legendary and I'm sure plenty of other companies would like to be the ones to make all that money from their albums.
Never fear you guys. I don't think they're in any kind of trouble.

im still pretty sure dexter has enough money to fund the album through nitro and there's no 3rd party interuption and they could promote it how they like and tour it how they like!

There would still be distribution problems through Nitro Records.

It would be awsome if they were on Nitro, but would destroy other bands on Nitro. So, if they changed, this a list of the Top 5 Most Popular labels ( )
Universal Music Group
Sony Music Entertainment
EMI Group
Warner Brothers Music
BMG Entertainment
So if they did change, be nice if It was NOT one of those labels. But the main thing that counts is that they are making good music! :)

This is highly doubted.
Head on over to your local Best Buy or whatever. There is no way you can't find stuff by Nitro. They're bound to have some Older AFI, or newer Aquabats, or Rufio, or the vandals, or something.
Nitro Records could put out an offspring album. It just would be a very bad idea in terms of making money, because Nitro doesn't have enough money to build up the album properly.
But none of this matters, because as I said, they signed a new Contract with Colombia for Two more albums.

My record store Princeton Record Exchange has everything, I mean everything. I got alot of Demos and LP/EP of the Offspring for a very low price. They have everything on Nitro Records and if they dont, you order it even old Vandals and AFI, If you guys would like something I can get it for you for following prices: New=16, Used (good condition)=6-9 and they have a whole wall of CD's old Punk, hardcore, metal, and such for $1-4. Let me know if you would like anything!

I think that maybe Nitro Records could manage Offspring.. I mean... they have enough money

But they don't have enough people. The amount of work that it takes to put together and put out an album is staggering. Offspring has sold more records than the entire Nitro roster combined--perhaps Nitro could in theory put out an Offspring record, but it would pull attention and resources from all the other active bands. Nitro could do it if it was just Dexter's vanity label, but it's not.

ah nice, then well at least expect two more albums. which most likely will be two more big tours...but who knows.
i thought that splinter was the last record on colombia.
cause they signed a 4 album deal right?!
so thats ixnay(might count as an epithaph album. not sure about the contracts and royalties and all that.). Americana, CO1 and splinter.
dont think that the greatest hits was in the contract, might be something that colombia did push them too give out. even though it contains one might be THE one favorite offspring song. Cant Repeat is such an awesome song. IMO. good that they signed a two album deal again:D

according to the majority of respons's made, it kind sounds like the offspring will produce more albums; which makes me happy. any studio will be lucky to have them.
the bottom line is that it doesnt really matter who the offspring are signed with; what matters is that the boys are taken care with all their needs satisfied.

I think it would be great if the band released their next album through Nitro. It wouldn't drain any resources from the other bands either. Think of it this way, when you release an album through your own label, you can sell 1/10 of the amount of copies of an album and make more money than you would if you released it through a major label.

I would prefer if they released them on Nitro. Then they can do whatever they want, without being told what to do by any record company. This is real artistic freedom^^

They're all still on the label as far as I know... And Hit The Switch is still on the label, too. There's a few other bands I've never heard of that are on it as well. It's definately not a dead label.

It would kill Nitro's resources if it had to deal with a band the size of the Offspring (ie Nitro already has issues with distribution). If they had to sign to any indie, i would prefer Fat Wreck, Epitaph has been going down hill the last few years (quality wise). Plus Dexter started Nitro to put out music by bands that he liked, and if the Offspring signed to Nitro, then most of his attention would be focused on putting out Offspring albums, not finding the next Wilhelm Scream.
