Well, I wasn't sure whether to put it in here, or the Your Band section, but oh well. I've made a Tehran drum beat cover on the computer program Fruity Loops Studio. http://www.savefile.com/files/7642537

What program did you use? Drum programs tend to give not so good drums, in my opinion. The one you uses is not an exeption.
I am not a drummer so I don't know how similar it is to Theran original, but its drums is rather difficult. So a pretty god job!
How long did it take for you to make? Did you use tabs from somewhere, or did you pick it out youself?

Thanks. I used the program, "FL Studio". lol It's the best drum program that I've seen. It took me about an hour to make, I think. No, I didn't use tabs, I picked it out myself.

Did you adjust the drum volumes in the program? or use anything but the drums that come with the program automatically?

I used everything that came with the program. Yes, I alternated the volume on the things like the hi-hats, the ride, and the snare occasionally, to try and make it sound a bit more realistic, rather than having the same tone every time it hits each drum, cymbal, etc.

It's one of the worst programs to writing a drums- it's for hip-hop, techno rather. Try with program called 'Cubase' it's much more complicated, but drums made on it sounds like real

Thanks, I'll give that one a try. As I said, it was the best program that I had seen ;)

i quote you for what you say about FL, but cubase it's more used to record than making your drum patterns, because it's hard to do with it and the final result is not so good (if you use the factory sound, of course, but even if you use some different sounds).
One brilliant software about drum patterns is Reason, which can be found at http://www.propellerheads.se/ :D

I find Fruity Loops to be ok to write a simple drum pattern on. If you can manage to make drum patterns in Cubase without a drum kit, I am greatly interested.

That's cool, I might have to go through the program fully. I have it at home as well (I use it mainly at college, and everything is external there) so I haven't really needed to fuss with it so much. But thank you for the offer, if I run into any issues I will drop you a PM.

Hi my name is Stephan-- Nikc Goroner

I just want to tell you that fl studio is no only beat making software.
Fl studio sure it is good for that but it is also Music making software
Fl studio is used by a lot producents and musicians and it is the most powerfull making music software

I use it to make music too

i got 2 songs made in it and third is on way

just take a better look on fl studio and explore it and it's abillityes.
Here is link to download my first song made in fl studio.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QOALCW3W

hear it and have a fun

and remember fl studio is not only beat making software it is music making software that uses bar making music technology that means you make all your samples, effects, pads, sweeps, beats etc. in bars and set the bars in the bar browser as you want your song to start like beat go on and pad joins or sweep start the song etc.etc.etc.

bye and lear fl better :)

On that note, I used to Acoustica Beatcraft for drums (very simple, worked for me), but now I record real live drums. :D

if you want a nice free programme, kristal audio engine is pretty good.

equally free, if you dont mind downloading the crack [and ultimately better than most free stuff out there] is adobe audition. use either of these programmes with actual drum samples [google drum samples - in .wav format should work best] and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

somehow - i don't know how, but somehow - a couple years ago i managed to make a passable version of NOFX's cover of Vincent [Don Maclean] with midi drums as samples, overlaying my guitar 3 times. and using the same guitar as a bass by lowering the pitch by an octave. its pretty diy, but not bad for cooledit '96. and diy is where its at lol

Vincent [2003/4??] HyperVAG [Now The Deceptionist] (http://media.putfile.com/Vincent-20034---HyperVAG-Now-The-Deceptionist)

and while im looking in my old tunes folder [ah, the memories] heres the first song i ever managed to finish recording, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, made in the same crude way on cooledit '96 with midi drums - made on evolution midi '96 i think - and overlayed guitars. i think theres a midi sitar and organ in there too...

LSD [2003] HyperVAG [Now The Deceptionist] (http://media.putfile.com/LSD-2003-HyperVAG-Now-The-Deceptionist)

its amazing what can be accomplished on such shitty software with just a bit of grit and determination... and a couple doobs of course - hehe.

also, i really want to hear your tehran drums, but im getting an error on savefile. could you possibly reupload it?

You had obviously used midi file from that song to insert drum pattern and later reordered in the sampler…

You know users of cubase and reason but have you seen what kind of songs are made in fl studio and what fl studio can do...I guess everyone that dont use fl studio is as same as you and think that fl studio is not good for making music..I want to tell you i dont realy like reason the interface is bad for my opinion and for cubase i wont tell bad things cause i use it like rewire with fl studio that means that i use bouth software for making music...
Cubase:In cubase you dont have a lot options but if you dont have good vst instruments or vst effects instaled, the interface is not so improoved,it is hard to add effects that are for audio tracks on midi tracks -to add tham you need to add the effect in the mixer for the vst instrument that means that if you use that vst instrument in more than 1 track you will have the same effect on 2-3 sounds from that vst instrument...if you like to use 2-3 sounds from that vst instrumen you need to use it 2-3 times in vst instruments pannel..
Fruity Loops:In fruity loops you got more options for modeling the sound ofc.you need some vst instruments but even you dont use there is a lot sounds and samples for use --there is realy great songs made in fl studio with those sounds.
The way of adding effects on the sounds is realy good and easy.
for ex: i cant make one sound to have catoff slowly in cubase so easy as in fl studio..
other good thing is that you can use your keyboard as musical keyboard.i dont use this cause i got musical keyboard. But this is good for those one that bigin with making music.
The interface in fl studio is so good. That is one of the things that i like..
Only bad thing in fl studio is that you need realy good cpu to handle a lot plugins...It is same in Cubase but the level is a bit higher in fl studio.

That's all i have to say and keep it good work..
Try to learn fl studio more....

Bye
