Oh, poor Dexter, of course he had to be polite and couldn't say no.

Nah, seriously I think he did a great job, the song sounds like Puffy I guess and fits their style.

Jesus/Ken just showed me this article on a Dutch site.

Quick translation:
Japanese duo Puffy AmiYumi has recorded a new version of 'Tokyo I'm On My Way' by the band Gruppo Sportivo from The Hague (The Netherlands).

The song is taken from the album 'Splurge!' and will be released in the USA. The album was co-produced by Dexter Holland from The Offspring and Butch walker, the producer for Avril Lavigne, Pink and more.

Hans Vandenburg, who recorded the song in 1987 for the album 'Back To 78', fears that there won't be any recognition and money for him. "It look like Dexter Holland claims the songwriting. This could probably be taken to court".Lyrics to the original song:In Tokyo , i've got it made
In Tokyo , i'm on the hitparade
In Tokyo , i've got a million fans!
In Tokyo , they know who i am.

Tokyo , i'm on my way
And in my new Toyota , i'ts not so far away
repeat

In Tokyo , they dont have stereo
They're playing all the tophits , in kimono
In Tokyo , geisha's dream away
When i play rock 'n roll , hey hey
When i play rock 'n roll , hey hey

What a baby. The chorus is probably the only thing that looks anything like what Dexter wrote.

So it's not 100% sure that Dexter wrote it. COURT? Oh please Dexter, you have enough credits and finances as a musician and song-writer to be claiming over that crap, whether you wrote it or not.

Haha it takes a minute and a half to say something that would take about 25 seconds in English.

Haha, those Japanese girls make me laugh for some reason I don't know. They doesn't seem to be "really excited and flattered that he said yes" in the interview.

If they were on the same record label, maybe it was more to do with them asking.

I don't get what the big deal is with dexter writing for them. Dexter wrote a song for a japanese pop-rock band. Accept it (in your ass preferably)

Well, the chorus of both songs are pretty much the same. Bands got sued for more stupid reasons...
