Ixnay on Offspring!

The 3rd and last album i bought and will EVER buy was 'Smash'.
(Previously purchased 'The Offspring' & 'Ignition' when originally released)

Between 1991 and 1995 I saw "The Offspring" in concert about a half dozen times and loved every show.

Sure Brett may have been the face behind Epitaph, but Greg is the mind behind Bad Religion...

I've heard 'Ixnay...', 'Americana', 'Conspiracy...' & 'Splinter'...
I think I can name maybe 1 track on each album that are "Ok", for the rest lack that which i describe as the soul of The Offspring sound...

It's truly disappointing to see what was an original band sell out and become trendy.

Hope you enjoy your wealth attained through Columbia/Sony & be sure to say 'hi' to Britney Spears when u see her at the label's annual christmas party you schmucks.

So in parting i'll leave you with this:

"I'm not a trendy asshole.
I do what I want,
I do what I feel like.
I'm not a trendy asshole.
I don't give a fuck if it's good enough for you.
Cause I'm alive."

Hey Offspring, "What in the world happened to you?"
You've become that which you proclaimed not to be...
You've become Trendy Assholes....

Epitaph was gonna sell them to a major label anyways, they wanted a choice in the matter.

I fucking hate it when people say that the minute a band changes their style even one iota that they're automatically "sellouts". It's called progress asshole, you've gotta change if you want to keep your act fresh.

Firstly, Smash sold ALOT more records than Ixnay, witch is from the sell out time, like you said. So, how can they be sell outs after when Ixnay was released? With a not-so-well selling album. Hmmmm...interesting...makes you wonder doesn't it.

It's cause fan's left them, cause "the sell out"... I still think that they were idiots

brett from bad religion is a true sellout......creates a label and once one of his prodigy bands ( offspring) plants a hit, he tries to deal em to other labels. what a bitch.....but i guess that at least makes him a "tru punk"

I think what the guy says is completely true and a fair enough point.

But I don't see why it matters, the Offspring did no wrong in going to Columbia and making their music a bit more mainstream. And they're not hypocrites for going against the song Smash, on songs like Beheaded Dex sings about killing people, doesn't mean it's true (or at least I hope that song wasn't based on real life experience).

People who say bands that get big are sell-out's are totally pathetic.

Do you honestly think people start bands and say to themselves, "Y'know, if we start getting big, let's destroy the chance to make millions of dollars and get national fame. I'd rather wallow away in mediocrity forever."

You fucking tool.

Also, I'd like to add that The Offspring may not be as good as they once were (they still kick ass), but they are still better than any new band right now; just because you change your sound a bit doesn't mean you sold out, it means you didn't want to release the same album 8 times, you dipshit.

Thank you for your time.

All the people who think that Offspring are sell outs or stupid cause leaving Epitaph and going to a major label, they are all just scared of the death of punk, they aren't the FANS of them. +Epitaph was going to sell them to a major label anyways, so they wanted to do it them selves.

Oh, cry me a river, way to post to THEIR MESSAGE BOARD, POPULATED BY THEIR FANS about it. Your tired, not to mention silly, argument is really going to change some minds over here, by golly.
