How many singles do you all think will be released off the new album? :)
(I realised this should really be done after the album is released, but hey... i thought it would be fun to try and have a few lucky guesses ;) )
I think 3

You probably could've posted this in the "New Offspring Album" thread, but I won't complain.
Possibly 3 or 4.
EDIT: I just noticed the poll. I voted for 3.

That also contributed to Green Day selling out. I really hope Offspring have the brains with this album to not go too main stream with it, like American Idiot was.

I always hope for four, but it seems like the trend has been two singles per album as The Offspring become less and less popular over the years . Da Hui doesn't even count, and Million Miles Away was such a colossal failure as a single that it doesn't reallyc ount either in my mind.
So, I am guessing that two singles will be released from the new album, but I am hoping for four.

I don't really care how many singles are released. As far as videos go, I'd say 3 or 4 would be good. 2 = too few, 5 = too many. But just because they release a song as a single doesn't mean they have to shoot a video for it. Blackball, Kick Him When He's Down, Bad Habit, One Fine Day, and Spare Me the Details were all released as singles.

I don’t care which version of the video you like. I don’t think either version is particularly bad, I just personally prefer the original. It’s all a matter of opinion, and I don’t think there’s any reason to get so worked up over a music video.

I hate when people think that music videos should always reflect the message in a song. Videos like that can be good sometimes, but only when they're done with a certain amount of symbolism, as opposed to a video that's a literal translation of the lyrics. I prefer videos that reflect the mood of the song rather than the message (Gone Away for example) or just a standard performance video, like CGMHAY or the original Can't Repeat, where they just let the music do the talking instead of the video.
This version of the video doesn’t add any meaning to the songs subject whatsoever. It just illustrates the meaning that’s already there, which seems somewhat unnecessary to me considering that it’s pretty obvious what the song is about anyway.
The plot is in the lyrics themselves. Complaining that the original video had no images to reflect the lyrics is like reading a book and complaining that there are no pictures.
You are a fucking idiot.

Is that it? For God's sake, the fact that you've got an opinion about something doesn't mean everybody has to think that way. Me myself didn't think the alternative version was good, I think it sucked, but I don't call you an idiot because of it, nor say that you have no taste because there are different tastes according to every kind of people.

It's plain boring. There is no symbolism in a normal version and that's why they made an alternate version. It's impossible to express by the human body that you can't repeat the old times. Then think of non-English speaking countries. A lot of people don't fucking know what's going on and it's boring to watch this kind of a video. I know what is all about and it's still fucking boring.
I prefer videos that reflect the mood of the song rather than the message (Gone Away for example) or just a standard performance video, like CGMHAY or the original Can't Repeat, where they just let the music do the talking instead of the video.
You are mixing apples and pears. What kind of the video would you make to HAY? It's barely 2 minutes long. For Gone away, it's better to express sadness and anger than "turn the page". In addition both videos (HAY and GA) are precisely done and there's much more ideas. Walking, rotating, effects....etc
This version of the video doesn’t add any meaning to the song's subject whatsoever. It just illustrates the meaning that’s already there, which seems somewhat unnecessary to me considering that it’s pretty obvious what the song is about anyway.

It's plain boring. There is no symbolism in a normal version and that's why they made an alternate version.
I never said there was any symbolism in the normal version. There isn’t. And there doesn’t need to be. There isn’t a lot of symbolism in the newer version either. It just shows a bunch of kids who are upset about the past. Not a whole lot of symbolism there.
It's impossible to express by the human body that you can't repeat the old times.
Wrong. The human body is complete with a mouth. Not only can you express it, but you can say it in plain English. Which is exactly what Dexter does.
it's boring to watch this kind of a video. I know what is all about and it's still fucking boring.
Do you watch the video on mute? Are you also bored at their shows? Maybe it bores you, but I personally enjoy watching my favorite band perform one of my favorite songs. Just like no_way said, it’s all a matter of opinion.

For CGMHAY you could show clips of Dexter with his girl trying to figure out what’s wrong with her. For Gone Away they could’ve had the band playing at a funeral. But those would’ve been really cheesy right? You really didn’t counter any of my points with this paragraph. In fact, you’re basically agreeing with me that CGMHAY and Gone Away are good videos.
You are still thru punx enough to NOT distinguish masterpiece from the boring shit. You are thru punx with no fuckin' taste whatsoever.

Americana: 4
CO1: 3 (Original Prankster, Want You Bad, Million Miles Away)
Orange County Soundtrack: 1 (Defy You)
Splinter: 2 (Hit That, Head Around You... Spare Me The Details was only a promo as well)
edit:
Greatest Hits: 1 (I only count Can't Repeat as a single of GH, of course most of the other songs were released as singles before)
about the whole singles discusion that went off topic, i didnt count Orange County being a soundtrack or GH being a compilation. I was using Albums as an xample due to the release topic of a new album...

Good question, i have no idea about Kick Him When He's Down, but i'm pretty sure One Fine Day was not a single.

That's the reason why the normal version sucks and you are tru punx. There is no symbolism. An alternate version contains symbolism and you are fuckin' idiot because you don't want to admit it. Jesus fucking christ.
Ok, you like better the new version and he doesn't, big deal. I don't see what you're complaining about, about someone that disagrees with you? And the video has no symbolism.
The normal version is made for thu punx and you are one of them.
blah blah and you know that you are tru punx with no fuckin' taste whatsoever.
thanx, didn't expect from thru punx.
I have no words to describe how stupid that was. Please be kidding about it.

Don't waste my time, honey. Not your business. Aren't you just 15?
I'm 15, and still you're the one acting as if you were even younger. And yes, it's not my bussiness but if you think about it it's nobody's bussiness at the end of the day, I just want you to get my point instead of trying to getaway with the wisdom difference, but that seems like something you're apparently incapable to do.
That why she is called tryhard.
That's got nothing to do and you know it.
Case closed.

[In the normal version] There is no symbolism. An alternate version contains symbolism^This is the only thing you said in your last post that’s worth arguing about. I thought I’d made it clear that I’m well aware that there’s no symbolism in the original version. I’m saying that there doesn’t need to be. And I don’t think you really understand what symbolism means, because there’s very little, if any, symbolism in the newer version. A bunch of kids are upset about the past. That’s not symbolism, that’s a literal translation of the lyrics.
Anyway, nothing else that you said in your post really had any kind of point to make. Just the same old crap you’ve said 100 times before. Fuckin’ Idiot, no taste, tru punx, thru punx, turhrtu punx, uh… something about farting… ? Anyway, nothing that made a whole lot of sense.
I’m always gonna like the original version better, and you’re always gonna like the alternate version better. And that’s cool. I don’t care which version you like better. It’s all a matter of opinion, which is something you seem to be incapable of understanding. It’s not like either one of us is going to be able to change the others mind. It’s not even really about the video anymore; it’s about you not being able to realize that just because someone’s opinion differs from yours, that doesn’t make him or her stupid.
I’m giving my argument for why I personally like the original better. You’re giving your argument for why everyone should like the new version better, and why anyone who doesn’t is an idiot. And that’s just dead wrong and incredibly narrow-minded of you.
I thought that maybe after post #61 there was some small chance that you’d be able to discuss this with me like an adult, but it’s obvious that you have your head way too far up your ass to listen to any kind of reason.
I cannot believe that you’re 22 years old.
And everyone, I’m really sorry for getting so far off topic. I voted for 3. For whatever that’s worth.

Well... I honetsly didn't see that coming. I'm not exactly sure what to make of it either. Even if you were just trolling me, I can't help but to sense a certain amount of sincerity in your posts.
I post in general chat sometimes, but not too often. The majority of threads in GC bore the hell out of me for some reason. (Not the all the threads in GOD are are incredibly riveting)
And here I'd thought I'd made my first enemy since joining.
